A number of representations had been made to me by very close relatives of those persons arrested and detained without any intimation being passed on about the reason for the arrest and the whereabout of the person concerned to the relatives. All the arrests complained of had taken place in the nights and the general impression is that these arrests are made by the intelligence unit. There is also a possibility of some unauthorised persons making these arrests with vicious intentions.
Since there is proof of arrest by the Security personnel in certain cases I strongly urge that all those arrested and detained by the security unit , should be brought to courts or at least the relatives informed of the whereabouts of those arrested and facilities made available to the relative to pay visits to them.
