ஒரு மனிதாபிமான வேண்டுகோள்

நல்லெண்ணத்துடன் உங்களுக்கு பல கடிதங்கள் அனுப்பியிருந்தும் அவற்றுக்கு உங்களிடமிருந்தோ அன்றி உங்கள் சார்பில் வேறு எவரிடமிருந்தோ பதில் எதுவும் கிடைக்கவில்லை. உங்களது கொடூரமான நடவடிக்கைகளால் நீங்கள் ஏகபிரதிநிதிப்படுத்துவதாகக் கூறிக்கொள்ளும் தமிழ் மக்களுக்கும், அரசியலில் அக்கறை கொள்ளாது தம் அலுவல்களை மட்டும் கவனித்துக் கொண்டு உங்களுடன் எந்த விதத்திலும் முரண்பாடில்லாதிருக்கும் அப்பாவி சிங்கள கிராமவாசிகளுக்கும், எனது ஆலோசனைகளையும், எச்சரிக்கைகளையும் மீறி நீங்களும் உங்கள் போராளிகளும் கொடூரமான செயல்களால் பெரும் துன்பத்தையும், நஷ்டத்தையும் தூரதிஷ்டவசமாக தொடர்ந்தும் ஏற்படுத்தி வருகின்றீர்கள். உங்களது கடந்த மாவீரர் தின உரை தமிழ் மக்களின் சிறந்த எதிர்காலத்துக்கு எந்தவித நம்பிக்கையையும் ஊட்டவில்லை. இருண்ட எதிர்காலத்தையே எதிர்வு கூறுகிறது. எமது நாட்டு மக்கள் வெளியேறும் வேகத்தைப் பார்க்கும் போது இலங்கையில் தமிழ் மக்களின் எண்ணிக்கை அவர்களுக்காக குரல் கொடுக்க ஆளின்றி மிகவும் பெருமளவில் குறைந்துவிடும் என்று எண்ணத் தோன்றுகிறது. வயது முதிர்ந்த தமிழ் பிரஜை என்ற வகையில் உங்களுக்கு கசப்பாக தோன்றினாலும் கூட உங்களது இன்றைய நிலைப்பாட்டையும் வெளிப்படுத்தும் மாவீரர் தின உரையில் உள்ள குறைபாடுகளை சுட்டிக்காட்ட வேண்டிய தார்மீக கடமை எனக்குண்டு. அதில் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ள விடயங்கள் பல உண்மைக்கு புறம்பானதாகவும், திரிபுபடுத்தப்பட்டவையாகவும், மிகைப்படுத்தப்பட்டவையாகவும் தோன்றுகின்றன. உங்களை சரியான பாதைக்கு கொண்டுவரும் நோக்கத்துடனேயே இக் கடிதம் எழுதப்படுகின்றது என்பதை உறுதியாக தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறேன்.

இக் கடைசி நேரத்திலும் கூட அடைய முடியாத தனிநாட்டுக் கோரிக்கையை கைவிடுமாறு மீண்டும் வேண்டுகோள் விடுக்கின்றேன். கைகள் பின்னால் கட்டப்பட்ட நிலையில் அநாகரிகமான முறையில் மக்கள் வெட்டிக் கொல்லப்படுவதையும், சிறுவர்கள் உட்பட அப்பாவி மக்கள் கூடுதலாக பலியாகும் இராணுவத்தை இலக்கு வைத்து மேற்கொள்ளப்படும் கிளேமோர் குண்டுத்தாக்குதல்களையும் தயவு செய்து நிறுத்திக் கொள்ளவும்.

ஒரு காலத்தில் உங்களை கணக்கிலெடுத்து உங்களுக்கும்; உங்கள் போராளிகளுக்கும் பல வசதிகளை சர்வதேச சமூகம் வழங்கியிருந்தது. இப்பொழுது உங்கள் நடவடிக்கைகள் முழுமையாக அம்பலப்படுத்தப்பட்டு சர்வதேச சமூகத்தின் முன் செல்லாக்காசாக ஆக்கப்பட்டுள்ளீர்கள். அரச கட்டுப்பாட்டுப் பகுதியில் இடம்பெறும் ஆட்கடத்தல்கள், மனித உரிமை மீறல்கள் பற்றிப் பேசுகின்றீர்கள். அத்தகைய சம்பவங்கள் கூடுதலாக உங்கள் கட்டுப்பாட்டிலுள்ள பிரதேசங்களில் இடம்பெறுவதை முழு உலகமுமே அறியும். இதை நீங்கள் மறுக்க மாட்டீர்கள் என எண்ணுகிறேன். ஒருவர் மற்றொருவரை கொல்வதற்கோ, சித்திரவதை செய்வதற்கோ எந்த உரிமையும் கிடையாது. இராணுவமோ, நீங்கள் கூறுவது போல் ஒட்டுப்படையோ அல்லது நீங்களோ மேற்கொள்ளும் ஒவ்வொரு கொலைகளையும் நான் வன்மையாக கண்டிக்கின்றேன்.


பௌத்தமும் நீங்களும்

பௌத்தத்தைப் பற்றி பேசும் அருகதை உங்களுக்கில்லை. பௌத்த சித்தாந்தம் பேராசையற்ற, அன்பு, இரக்கம், நீதி, கருணை போன்ற தத்துவங்களை போதிப்பதாகும். ஒரு சிலரை தவிர இந்த நாட்டில் வாழும் பௌத்தர்கள் 2000 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு மேல் இக் கோட்பாடுகளுக்கமைய வாழ்வதாக கூறுவதை நான் ஏற்றுக்கொள்கிறேன். உங்களைப்போல் சிலர் சிங்கள இனத்திலும், வேறு இனத்திலும் இருக்கின்றார்கள். இத்தகைய கறுப்பு ஆடுகள் தமது இனத்துக்கும், மதத்துக்கும் பெரும் அபகீர்த்தியை தேடுபவர்கள். அவர்களைப் பற்றி பொருட்படுத்தத் தேவையில்லை. சிங்கள, தமிழ், முஸ்லீம் மற்றும் பல்லின மக்கள் ஆகிய நாம் அவரவர்களுடைய விருந்தோம்பலை தலைமுறை தலைமுறையாக அனுபவித்து வந்திருக்கிறோம்;. சிங்களவர்கள் இனத்துவேஷம் என்னும் விஷத்தில் மூழ்கி உள்ளனர் என்ற கூற்று உங்களது கற்பனையே. சுயநலம் கருதி உங்களைப் போன்ற சிலர் விஷத்தைக் கக்குவது உண்மையே. ஆனால் நீங்கள் தமிழ் மக்களின் ஏகபிரதிநிதி என கூறுவதைப்போல் அவர்கள் சிங்கள மக்களின் ஏகபிரதிநிதிகள் என கூறுவதில்லை. உங்களது போராளிகளே நீங்கள் தமிழ் மக்களின் ஏகபிரதிநிதி என்பதை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டுள்ளார்கள் என்பது சந்தேகமே. தயது செய்து உங்களது துப்பாக்கிகளை ஒருபுறம் வைத்துவிட்டு மக்கள் சுதந்திரமாக நடமாடக்கூடியவாறு உங்களது இரும்புத்திரையை நீக்கிவிட்டு பார்த்தால் ஒருவர் தன்னும் மிஞ்சியிருப்பது சந்தேகமே. அப்போதுதான் நான் கூறியது எந்தளவுக்கு உண்மை என்பது புரியும். நீங்கள் எமது இளம் சந்ததியினருக்கு ஏற்றியுள்ள வகுப்புவாத விஷத்தை சமநிலைப்படுத்த பல ஆண்டுகள் செல்லும். அதிஷ்டவசமாக சிங்கள இளம் சந்ததியினர் வகுப்புவாத கறைபடியாது ஒரே பெற்றோர்களின் பிள்ளைகள் போல் வாழ்கிறார்கள்.

இலங்கையில் வகுப்புவாத அரசியல்

கற்பனைக்கு எட்டாதளவு வன்முறையை தமிழ் மக்களுக்கு எதிராக சிங்கள மக்கள் கட்டவிழ்த்துள்ளனர் என்ற உங்களது குற்றச்சாட்டு நகைப்புக்குரியதும், நம்பமுடியாததும் ஏற்கமுடியாததுமாகும். இத்தகைய அற்பத்தனமான குற்றச்சாட்டுக்களைக் கூறி ரத்தம் தோய்ந்த உங்கள் கைகளை சுத்தம் செய்ய முயற்சிக்கிறீர். இலங்கை வாழ் தமிழ் மக்களில் அரைவாசிக்கு மேற்பட்டோர் உங்களுக்கு பயந்தும், தமது பிள்ளைகளை போராளிகளாக இணைத்துக் கொள்ளப்படுவதை தடுக்கவும், தம் பாரம்பரிய வாழ்விடங்களை விட்டு தென்னிலங்கையில் சிங்கள, முஸ்லீம் சமூகங்களோடு வாழ்கின்றார்கள் என்பது உலகறிந்த உண்மை. தமிழ் மக்களின் நீண்டகால போராட்டம் அகிம்சை முறையிலும் சரி, வன்முறையிலும் சரி இடம்பெற்ற காலத்தில் கூட நியாயமாக சிந்தித்த சிங்கள மக்கள் நியாயத்திற்கும், நீதிக்கும், சமத்துவத்துக்குமாக போராட உறுதி பூண்டிருந்ததே உண்மை அன்றி நீங்கள் கூறுவது போல் அல்ல.

தமிழ் மக்களின் கலாச்சாரம்

இலங்கைவாழ் தமிழர்கள் தமது கலாச்சாரத்தையும், நாகரீகத்தையும் இட்டு பெருமையுடன் வாழ்ந்தார்கள். மிருகத்தனமான கொலைகளும், சித்திரவதைகளும் அவர்களுக்கு அந்நியமானவை. மிருகத்தனத்தையும், சுட்டும், வெட்டியும் மக்களை கொலை செய்யும் கலாச்சாரத்தை அறிமுகப்படுத்தியவர்கள் நீங்களே. மிருகத்தனமும், பயங்கரவாதமும் தமிழ் மக்களுக்கு பரிச்சயப்படாதவை. கடந்த காலத்தில் ஏற்பட்ட இனக்கலவரங்களின் போது கொடூரமான சில கொலைகள் நடந்துள்ளன. அவை சில காடையர்களின் செயற்பாடாகும். சிங்கள பொது மக்கள் மிக அனுதாபத்துடன் தமிழ் மக்களை தமது காடையர்களிடமிருந்து காப்பாற்றியுள்ளனர். பல சந்தர்ப்பங்களில் உங்களுடைய மிருகத்தனம் பெண்களையும், குழந்தைகளையும் படுகொலை செய்யுமளவிற்கு மீறி செயற்பட்டுள்ளது. கர்ப்பிணிகளையும், சிசுக்களையும் கூட நீங்கள் விட்டு வைக்கவில்லை. இத்தகைய சம்பவங்கள் ஒன்றிலேனும் சிங்கள பொது மக்கள் பங்கு கொண்ட சம்பவத்தை உங்களால் கூற முடியுமா? அப்படியானால் எப்போ, எங்கே என்ற விபரத்தை நான் அறிய விரும்புகின்றேன். ஆனால் மிகவும் வெட்கக்கேடான விடயம் என்னவென்றால் நீங்களும், உங்களது போராளிகளும் பல வெட்கப்படக்கூடிய மிருகத்தனமான சம்பவங்களில் ஈடுபட்டுவிட்டு குற்றத்தை இனந்தெரியாத வேறு சிலரில் சுமத்தியுள்ளீர்கள். எந்தெந்த சம்பவத்தில் நீங்களும், வேறு சிலரும் ஈடுபட்டுள்ளீர்கள் என்பதை மக்கள் நன்கு அறிவர். நான் யாருக்கும் வக்காலத்து வாங்கவில்லை. நான் வற்புறுத்தி கூறுவது யாதெனில் நீங்கள் கூறுவது போல் சிங்கள பொது மக்கள் எவரேனும் இத்தகைய தமிழ் மக்களின் மிருகத்தனமான கொலை நடவடிக்கைகளில் சம்பந்தப்படவில்லை என்பதே. விதிவிலக்காக கூறுவதானால் 1958 இற்கும் 1983 இற்கும் இடையில் நடைபெற்ற சில இனக்கலவரங்களை குறிப்பிடலாம். 1983ம் ஆண்டு இடம்பெற்ற இனக்கலவரமும், திருகோணமலையில் இடம்பெற்ற இனக்கலவரமும் உங்களது செயற்பாட்டால் திட்டமிட்டு தூண்டப்பட்டவையே. தமிழ் அரச ஊழியர்கள், ஆசிரியர்கள், வைத்தியர்கள், கலாநிதிகள் போன்ற பலர் பெருமளவில் உங்களால் கொல்லப்பட்டவர்களே அன்றி நீங்கள் கூறுவது போல் சிங்களவர்களால் அல்ல. இவ்விடயத்தில் உங்களுடைய கை சுத்தமானதென கூற முடியுமா? தமிழர்கள் மத்தியில் ஏற்பட்ட இத்தகைய கொலைகள் அத்தனைக்கும் நீங்களே பொறுப்பேற்க வேண்டும்.

சாதாரண சிங்கள மகனின் சிந்தனை

நீங்கள் பல சொத்தழிவுகளை ஏற்படுத்தியும், கைக்குண்டு, கிளேமோர் குண்டுத்தாக்குதல்கள், தற்கொலை குண்டுத்தாக்குதல் போன்ற சம்பவங்கள் மூலம் கணக்கிலடங்கா அப்பாவி சிங்கள ஆண், பெண் பிள்ளைகளின் உயிர்களை பலி எடுத்திருந்தும் சிங்கள மக்கள் தம்மை மாற்றிக்கொள்ளவில்லை. இத்தகைய குண்டுத் தாக்குதல்கள் உங்கள் பணிப்பின் பேரில் உங்களது போராளிகளால் ஒரு இனக்கலவரத்தை தூண்டும் நோக்கோடு, சிங்கள மக்கள் பெரும்பான்மையாக வாழ்கின்ற பகுதிகளில் நடத்தப்படுகின்றன. 1983 ஜூலை கலவரத்தில் தென்னிலங்கையில் வாழ்ந்த தமிழ் மக்கள் பெருமளவில் பாதிக்கப்பட்டது போல் மீண்டும் ஒரு இனக்கலவரத்தை தூண்ட நீங்கள் கடுமையாக முயற்சிக்கின்றீர்கள் என்பதை அனைவரும் அறிவர். அச்சம்பவம் நாட்டுக்கும் மக்களுக்கும் பெரும் அபகீர்த்தியை ஏற்படுத்த மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டதாகும். தென்னிலங்கையில் பரந்து வாழ்ந்த பல இலட்சக்கணக்கான தமிழ் மக்களின் உயிர்களை காப்பாற்றிய பெருமை சாதாரண சிங்கள மகனுக்கே உரியதாகும். அன்று இனக்கலவரத்துக்கு காரணமாக இருந்த குண்டர்கள் கூட உங்களால் தினமும் இனக்கலவரத்தை தூண்டும் நோக்கத்தோடு பல சிங்கள மக்கள் மிருக்கத்தனமாக கொல்லப்பட்டும் இன்று தம்மை மாற்றிக் கொண்டு உங்களது பொறியில் சிக்காது தப்பிக் கொள்கின்றனர்.

மக்களும் சர்வதேச சமூகமும்.

உங்களது நிலைப்பாட்டில் மக்களோ, சர்வதேச சமூகமோ திருப்தியடையவில்லை. உங்கள் மதிப்பை நீங்கள் நாளுக்கு நாள் இழந்து வருகிறீர்கள். எமது சிங்கள, தமிழ், முஸ்லீம் மற்றும் ஏனைய இன மக்களை கொல்வதையும் அவர்களுடைய சொத்துக்களை அழிப்பதையும் அவர்கள் அனுமதிக்கவில்லை. 30,000 இற்கு மேற்பட்ட விதவைகளையும் ஆயிரக்கணக்கான அநாதைகளையும் உருவாக்கியுள்ளீர்கள். ஆயிரக்கணக்கானோர் பார்வையிழந்து, அங்கவீனர்களாக ஆக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார்கள். 20,000 இற்கு மேற்பட்ட தமிழ் இளைஞர்களும், யுவதிகளும் அதேபோல் இருமடங்கு சிங்கள, முஸ்லீம் இளைஞர்களும் யுத்த முனையில் பலி கொடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார்கள். இந்த நாட்டில் உள்ள சில தலைவர்கள் இத்தகைய அப்பாவி இளைஞர்கள் மீதும் அவர்களின் பெற்றோர்கள் மீதும் கடுகளவேனும் அனுதாபம் இருக்குமேயாயின் யுத்த மூலம் தீர்க்க வேண்டிய பிரச்சினைகள் எதுவும் இருக்காது. நீங்கள் தங்களை ஏமாற்றி விட்டீர்கள் என மக்கள் நினைக்கிறார்கள். அதேபோல் சிங்கள மக்களும் சில சிங்கள தலைவர்களை பற்றி அதே கருத்தைக் கொண்டுள்ளனர். சாதாரணமான மக்கள் சமாதானமாக சம உரிமையுடன் வாழ்வதையே விரும்புகின்றார்கள். எவரும் விசேட சலுகையை விரும்பவில்லை. நீங்கள் பிரிவினையை கைவிட்டு அரசுடன் பேச வேண்டுமென்று தமிழ் மக்கள் விரும்புகின்றார்கள். அன்றேல் தம்மை தம் அலுவல்களை பார்க்க விடும்படி கேட்கிறார்கள்

மக்களால் ஆவலுடன் எதிர்பார்க்கப்பட்ட மாவீரர்தின உரையில் உங்களுக்கு ஆதரவு தந்தவர்கள் அத்தனை பேரையும் நன்றிகெட்டதனமாக கண்டித்துள்ளீர்கள். அதனால் அவர்களுடைய ஆதரவை இழந்துள்ளதோடு அவர்களின் கோபத்திற்கும் உள்ளாகியுள்ளீர்கள். நீங்கள் ஓரங்கட்டப்பட்டு எதுவித மீட்சியுமின்றி கசப்பான எதிர்காலத்தை எதிர்நோக்க வேண்டிவரும். உங்கள் புளுகுகளை யாரும் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளத் தயாராக இல்லை. உங்களது முழு நேரத்தையும் பதுங்கு குழிக்குள் செலவு செய்வதால் வெளியுலகில் என்ன நடக்கிறது என்பதை அறியாதுள்ளீர்கள். காலம் கடப்பதற்கு முன்பு சுயநிலைக்கு வந்து யதார்த்தத்தை எதிர்நோக்குங்கள். மக்கள் 25 ஆண்டுகாலமாக உங்கள் செயற்பாடுகளை பொறுத்திருந்து பார்த்துள்ளனர். இத்தகைய துன்பத்திற்கு முடிவேயில்லையா? தயவு செய்து வெளிநாட்டில் வாழ்கின்ற உங்கள் ஆதரவாளர்கள், கண்டிக்கப்பட வேண்டிய உங்கள் நடவடிக்கைகளுக்கு பெருமையூட்டி வரும் ஊடகங்கள் ஆகியவற்றின் வழி நடத்தலை ஏற்க வேண்டாம். அவர்கள் தமது மனைவி மக்களுடன் பிற நாட்டில் நிம்மதியாக வாழ்கிறார்கள். அவர்களில் சிலர் உங்களது பெயரை நன்கு பாவித்து பெருமளவில் சொத்து சேர்த்துள்ளனர். இன்னும் பலர் உங்களது பெயரால் சேர்க்கப்பட்ட சொத்துக்களுடன் தலைமறைவாகி விட்டனர். ஆகவே அவர்களை மேலும் நம்பவேண்டாம். அனேகமானோருடைய பிள்ளைகளுக்கு தமிழில் ஒரு வார்த்தைகூட பேச முடியாது. உங்களது பெயரால் வெளிநாட்டில் தமிழ் ஊடகங்கள் நடத்துவோரும் அவ்வாறே.

கிழக்கு மாகாணத்தின் வீழ்ச்சி.

கிழக்கு மாகாணத்தில் இருந்து வெளியேறியது போர் தந்திரம் என்ற உங்களுடைய கூற்றை மக்கள் நம்புகிறார்கள் என்று எதிர்பார்ப்பது புத்திசாலித்தனமல்ல. உங்கள் கிழக்கு மாகாண தளபதி கருணாவின் வெளியேற்றம் உங்கள் இயக்கத்தின் முதுகெலும்பை முறித்தது மட்டுமன்றி வட மாகாணத்தில் பெரும் தாக்கத்தை ஏற்படுத்தியதோடு வடக்கில் உங்கள் எதிர்காலத்தையும் கேள்விக்குறியாக்கியுள்ளது. ஏற்பட்டிருக்கின்ற பெரும் வாய்ப்பை உங்களுக்கு எதிராக அரசாங்கம் உபயோகிக்காது என சிந்திப்பது புத்திசாலித்தனமல்ல. தயவு செய்து கிழக்கு மாகாணம் பறிபோய்விட்டது என்பதையும் அதை மீளக் கைப்பற்றுவது என்பது பகற்கனவே என்பதையும் உணர்ந்து கொள்ளவும். கிழக்கு மாகாண மக்கள் தமது ஆதரவை உங்களுக்கு இனியொரு போதும் தர மாட்டார்கள்.

வடக்கே வாழ்ந்த முஸ்லீம்களுக்கு நீங்கள் என்ன செய்தீர்கள் என்பதை நான் ஞாபகமூட்டத் தேவையில்லை. மிகக் குறுகிய கால அவகாசத்தில் அவர்கள் வடக்கிலிருந்து வெளியேற்றப்பட்டனர். அவர்கள் தமது அசையும், அசையா ஆதனங்கள் அத்தனையையும் கைவிட்டு வெறும் 500 ரூபாவுடன் சென்றனர். 17 ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பின் இன்றும் அவர்கள் ஏறக்குறைய 150 அகதிகள் முகாம்களில் தென்னிலங்கையில் சோர்வுடன் வாழ்கின்றார்கள். அவ்வாறு அவர்களுக்கு செய்தமைக்கு நீங்கள் வருத்தம் தெரிவிக்கவும் இல்லை. அவர்களை தத்தமது வீடுகளில் மீண்டும் குடியேற அழைப்பு விடுக்கவுமில்லை. இத்தகையவொரு நிலைமையை உருவாக்கியதன் பின்னர் சர்வதேச சமூகத்துக்கு நீங்கள் குற்றமற்றவர் என்பதை எவ்வாறு நிரூபிப்பீர்கள்

சர்வதேச சமூகத்தின் தலையீடு

சர்வதேச சமூகம் சுயநல நோக்குடன்தான் எமது இனப்பிரச்சனையில் தலையிட்டது என்ற உங்களது ஆதாரமற்ற குற்றச்சாட்டு எனக்கு ஆச்சரியத்தை தருகிறது. தமது தேவைகளை முன்னெடுப்பதிலேயே அக்கறை காட்டுகிறார்கள் என குற்றம் சாட்டுகிறீர்கள். கணக்கிலடங்காத உதவிகளை தந்த சர்வதேச சமூகத்துக்கு நீங்கள் காட்டுவது நன்றியல்ல. சில நாடுகளில் இருந்து நீங்கள் நிதியுதவியோடு வேறு பல உதவிகளையும் பெற்றுள்ளீகள் என்பதையும் எவ்வாறு சில நாடுகளை சங்கடப்படுத்தியும், மன உளைச்சலை ஏற்படுத்தியும் உள்ளீர்கள் என்பதையும் உலகம் அறியும். எந்தநாடு எமது நாட்டிடமோ அல்லது உங்களிடமோ எதை பெற விரும்புகிறது என்பதை கூற முடியுமா? இது உங்கள் விரக்தி நிலைமையை உலகுக்கு காட்டுவதாக தோன்றவில்லையா?

நான் அறிந்த வகையில் ஒவ்வொரு நாடும் உங்களாலும்; உங்கள் போராளிகளாலும் மக்களுக்கு ஏற்படுத்தப்பட்ட துன்ப துயரங்கள் பற்றி அக்கறை கொண்டுள்ளன. சிங்களவர்கள், தமிழர்கள், முஸ்லீம்கள் மலாயர்கள், பறங்கியர் மற்றும் சிறு இன குழுக்கள் யாவரும் தவறாமல் துன்பங்களை அனுபவித்து வருகின்றனர். ஒவ்வொருவரும் நாட்டு சமாதானத்தையும் சக வாழ்வையும் கொண்டுவர விரும்புகின்றனர். இலங்கைக்கான ஜப்பானிய விசேட சமாதானத் தூதர் 15 தடவை நம் நாட்டுக்கு விஜயம் செய்துள்ளார். உங்களுடைய இயக்கம் ஒரு படு பயங்கரமான ஒன்று என்பதையும் அது முற்றுமுழுதாக அழிக்கப்பட வேண்டும் என்பதையும் அவர்கள் அறிவர். இருப்பினும் அவர்கள் இலங்கை அரசு உங்களுடன் பேச்சுவார்த்தை நடத்த வேண்டும் என்றே வற்புறுத்தி வருகின்றனர். அவர்கள் உங்களுக்கு ஆதரவளிக்கிறார்கள் என்று சில உள்ளுர் தலைவர்கள் குற்றம் சுமத்தி அவர்களை மனச் சங்கடப்படுத்தியது நீங்கள் அறியாததல்ல. அரசு கூட அத்தகைய சில அரசுகளையும், சில அரச சார்பற்ற நிறுவனங்களையும் குற்றஞ்சாட்டியுள்ளது. நான்கூட அத்தகையவொரு குற்றச்சாட்டை சுமத்தியுள்ளேன். நீங்கள் ஒரு தனிநபரேயன்றி எந்த அரசும் மரியாதை செலுத்தும் அளவுக்கு எந்தவொரு நாட்டினதும் தலைவரல்ல. உங்கள் கட்டுப்பாட்டில் உள்ள மக்களை மீட்க வேண்டிய தார்மீக கடமை சர்வதேச சமூகத்துக்கு உண்டு. சர்வதேச சமூகத்துக்கு எதிராகவும் ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் சபைக்கு எதிராகவும் உங்கள் கட்டுப்பாட்டுப் பிரதேசத்தில் வாழ்கின்ற மக்களை விடுவிக்க அவர்கள் எதுவித நடவடிக்கையும் மேற்கொள்ளவில்லை என்பது எனது குற்றச்சாட்டாகும். உங்களாலும் உள்ளுர் சில தலைவர்களாலும் ஏறபடுத்தப்பட்ட அவமானங்களுக்கும் சங்கடங்களுக்கும் அவர்கள் நட்டஈடு கேட்கவில்லை. அவர்களுக்கு வேண்டியதெல்லாம் நாட்டில் அமைதியும், சகஜவாழ்வுக்கு திரும்ப வேண்டும் என்பது மட்டுமே.

இந்தியாவின் பங்களிப்பு

நாம் அனைவரும் இந்தியாவிலிருந்து வந்தவர்கள் என்பதால் அந்நாட்டிற்கு எம்மீது அக்கறை இருப்பதோடு. ஒரு முக்கிய பங்கு வகிக்க வேண்டிய கடமையும் உண்டு. இந்தியா ஒரு பெரிய நாடு. சனத்தொகையில் 2வது இடத்தை கொண்டுள்ளது. 22மைல் நீளம் கொண்ட தொடுவாயால் பிரிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளமையால் இலங்கைக்கு கஷ்டம் ஏற்படுகின்ற நேரமெல்லாம் உதவிக்கு விரைந்து வரவேண்டிய தார்மீக கடமை உண்டு. அதை பல தடவைகள், உதாரணமாக வெள்ளம், புயல், சுனாமி, உள்ளுர் கிளர்ச்சி போன்றவை ஏற்பட்ட போதெல்லாம் அதை நிரூபித்துள்ளது. சரியோ பிழையோ இந்தியா தலையிட்டு இலங்கைப் பிரச்சினைக்கு ஒரு தீர்வை பேச்சுவார்த்தை மூலம் ஏற்படுத்தியது. இந்தியாவின் தலையீடு தமிழ் தலைமை வேண்டுகோளுக்கமைய ஏற்படுத்தப்பட்டு அமுல்படுத்துவதற்கு இலகுவாக இந்தியாவே ஒப்பந்தத்தில் கைச்சாத்திட்டது. 2004ம் ஆண்டு இடம்பெற்ற தேர்தல் போல் அல்லாமல் தமிழர்கள் பெரும்பான்மையாக கொண்ட தொகுதியில் ஒன்றைத் தவிர அத்தனை தொகுதிகளையும் வென்றெடுத்த தமிழர் விடுதலைக் கூட்டணி இந்தியாவுக்கு அந்த வேண்டுகோளை விடுத்தது. ஒரு தொகுதியை மட்டும் 500 வாக்குகளால் இழந்திருந்தோம். உங்கள் கொடூரத்தை நீங்கள் காட்டாது இருந்திருந்தால் 1989ம் ஆண்டு இந்திய - இலங்கை ஒப்பந்தம் அமுல்படுத்தப்பட்டு மக்கள் அமைதியாக வாழ்ந்திருப்பர். எமது நாடும் தீவிர முன்னேற்றமடைந்து சகல ஆசிய நாடுகளையும் பின் தள்ளி முன்னணி நாடாக வளர்ந்திருக்கும். இன்றைய நிலைமைக்கு காரணமாக இருந்தவர் நீரே. லொறிக் கணக்காக பணத்தையும் ஆயுதங்களையும் துப்பாக்கி ரவைகளையும் அன்றைய அரசிடம் பெற்று அரசின் ஒட்டுப்படையாக செயற்பட்டு இந்திய-இலங்கை ஒப்பந்தத்தை செயற்படுத்த விடாது குழப்பியவர் நீரே. இன்று ஜனநாயக பாதைக்கு திரும்பியுள்ள பல்வேறு தமிழ் குழுக்களின் உறுப்பினர்கள் அனேகரை அழித்தொழித்து விட்டு இன்று நீங்கள் 1989 இல் நடந்து கொண்ட விதத்தை மறந்து, அவர்களை ஒட்டுப்படை என்று நகைப்புக்கிடமாக விமர்சிக்கின்றீர்கள். இந்திய அமைதிகாப்பு படையை மாலை அணிவித்து வரவேற்ற நீங்களே பின்பு சிறீலங்கா அரசின் ஒட்டுப்படையாக செயற்பட்டு 1200 இற்கு மேற்பட்ட இந்திய அமைதி காப்பு படை வீரர்களை கொன்று ஆயிரத்துக்கு மேற்பட்ட இந்திய ஜவான்களின் விதவைகளை உருவாக்கினீர்கள். இந்திய அமைதி காப்புப் படையை சில துன்பகரமான சம்பவங்களில் திட்டமிட்டு நீங்களே ஈடுபட வைத்தீர்கள். அவர்கள் சமாதானத்தை நிலைநாட்ட அன்றி போராட வரவில்லை. இந்திய அமைதிகாப்புப்படையை சேர்ந்தவர்கள் அனைவரும் காந்தியவாதிகள் அல்ல என்பதை உணர வேண்டும். அவர்கள் மனிதர்கள் அவர்களுடைய பொறுமைக்கும் எல்லையுண்டு. அவர்களை சில கொடிய சம்பவங்களில் ஈடுபட தூண்டியது உங்களது திட்டமிட்ட செயலேயாகும்.

உங்கள் போராளிகள் சீக்கிய போராளிகளின் தலையை வெட்டி அவர்களின் தலைமுடியில் தூக்கியிருக்கிறார்கள். கோழைத்தனமாக அவர்களை தாக்கி கொன்றுவிட்டு யாழ் போதனா வைத்தியசாலைக்குள் ஓடி ஒளிந்தமையால் இனந் தெரியாமல் சில வைத்தியர்கள் கொல்லப்பட்டமைக்கு நீங்களே பொறுப்பேற்க வேண்டும். பராசூட்டில் வந்திறங்கிய இந்திய அமைதி காப்புப் படையை மறைந்திருந்து சுட்டுத்தள்ளியவர்கள் உங்கள் போராளிகள். இத்தகைய தூண்டுதல் சம்பவங்கள் இந்திய அமைதிகாப்பு படைக்கு அபகீர்த்தி ஏற்படுத்த உங்கள் போராளிகளால் திட்டமிட்டு மேற்கொண்ட சம்பவங்களாகும். தமிழ் நாட்டில் தவறான பிரச்சாரம் செய்யும் சில தமிழ் தலைவர்களுக்கு அசம்பாவிதத்தால் சில நூறு தமிழர்கள் கொல்லப்பட்டமையே உண்மை என்பதையும் 7,000 பேர் கொல்லப்பட்டமை என்பது மிகைப்படுத்தப்பட்ட எண்ணிக்கை என்பதை தெரியப்படுத்த வேண்டும்.

இந்திய அமைதி காப்புப்படை மூன்று தடவை உங்களை சுற்றி வளைத்தும் உங்களை பிடிக்காது தப்ப விட்டமைக்கு ஒரேயொரு காரணம் தீர்வு விடயத்தில் உங்கள் பங்களிப்பும் இருக்க வேண்டும் என்பதற்காகவே என்பதை உலகுக்கு நீங்கள் ஏன் தெரியப்படுத்தக் கூடாது. அதற்கு இந்திய முன்னாள் பிரதமர் ராஜீவ்காந்தி அவர்களை தற்கொலை குண்டுமூலம் உருக்குலைய வைத்து நன்றி உணர்வை காட்டியுள்ளீர்கள். உங்களை பிடிக்க வேண்டுமாக இருந்திருந்தால் இந்தியாவுக்கு எவ்வளவு நேரம் ஆகும்.? இந்தியா உம்மை தம்மிடம் ஒப்படைக்க கோரினால் இலங்கை அரசுக்கு உம்மை பிடிக்க எவ்வளவு நேரமாகும்?. இந்த விடயத்தில் இரு நாடுகளும் பாராமுகமாக இருப்பது நாட்டின் பிரச்சினை தீர்வுக்கு இச் செயல் முட்டுக்கட்டையாக இருக்கக் கூடாது என்ற ஒரே காரணத்துக்காகவே என்பதை தயவு செய்து உணர்ந்து கொள்ளவும். தமிழ் நாட்டு சட்டசபை உங்களை நாடு கடத்தி தம்மிடம் ஒப்படைக்குமாறு இலங்கை அரசிடம் கோரவேண்டுமென மத்திய அரசை கேட்டுள்ளது என்பதை அறிவீர்களா?

இனி செய்யவேண்டியவை

1990 களில் இருந்த பிரபாகரன் அல்ல நீங்கள். இன்று முதிர்ச்சியடைந்து நிலைமையை கணிக்கக்கூடிய ஆற்றலை கொண்டுள்ளீர்கள். தயவு செய்து என்னுடைய ஆலோசனையை ஏற்று உங்களது தனிநாட்டுக் கோரிக்கையை கைவிடவும். இந்திய முறையிலான ஒரு தீர்வை ஏற்பீராக இருப்பின் அதற்கு சர்வதேச சமூகத்தின் ஆதரவு முழுமையாக கிடைக்கும். ஆச்சரியப்படக்கூடிய வகையில் இலங்கை வாழ் மக்களும் அதற்கு ஆதரவை வழங்குவர்.

இந்தக் குழப்பத்தில் இருந்து நாட்டை மீட்கக்கூடிய ஓர் ஒளிக்கீற்று தெரிகிறது. நாட்டின் பிரச்சினைக்கு தீர்வொன்றினை காண அரசு தீவிர முயற்சி மேற்கொள்கிறது. ஆனால் இந்த சூழ்நிலையில் அரசியல் சட்டத்தை திருத்த வேண்டிய மூன்றில் இரண்டு அதிகப்படியான வாக்கும் பொதுஜன வாக்கெடுப்பும் நடத்துவது முடியாது இருப்பதால் 13வது திருத்தச் சட்டத்தை முன்னோடியாக அமுல்படுத்த உத்தேசிக்கப்படுவதோடு சர்வகட்சி பிரதிநிதிகள் குழு நிரந்தர தீர்வு காணும் முயற்சியில் தொடர்ந்து ஈடுபடுவதாக உறுதியளிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இத் தீர்வு தமிழ் மக்களின் அபிலாசைகளுக்கு ஏற்றதாகவோ அன்றி போதுமானதாகவோ நான் கூற வரவில்லை. தனி நாட்டுக் கோரிக்கையை கைவிட்டால் பலரின் சிந்தனையில் பல மாற்றங்கள் ஏற்பட்டு நியாயமான, அனைவருக்கும் ஏற்புடையதான ஒரு தீர்வைக் காணக்கூடிய சாதகமானதொரு சூழல் ஏற்படும். யுத்தத்தை நிறுத்தி இரு பகுதியிலும் பல உயிர்களை காப்பாற்றும்படி நான் வேண்டுகிறேன். இடைக்காலத் தீர்வை தயவு செய்து ஏற்க சம்மதித்து நாட்டுக்கும் மக்களுக்கும் அமைதியை கொண்டுவர வேண்டும். நீங்கள் இடைக்காலத் தீர்வை ஏற்கும் பட்சத்தில் அன்றி ஒரு தேர்தல் நடத்த வேண்டுமென கோரினாலும் கூட நான் முடிந்தவரை முயற்சித்து உங்களுக்கும் உங்கள் குழுவினருக்கும் பொறுப்புமிக்க பதவிகளை பெற்றுத்தருவேன்.

உங்களது போராளிகள் உட்பட அனைவரும் சமாதானத்தை விரும்புகின்றனர். நான் உங்களை சந்தித்து பேச விரும்புகின்றேன் என்பதை தயவு செய்து அறிந்து கொள்ளவும். தயவு செய்து என்னை ஒரு விரோதியாக கணிக்க வேண்டாம். நீங்கள் ஆயுதங்களை கைவிட்டு தனிநாட்டுக் கோரிக்கையையும் கைவிட்டால் நாடு உங்களை மன்னிக்கத் தயாராக உள்ளது. அதன் பின் அனைவரும் ஒன்றிணைந்து நியாயமானதோர் தீர்வை காண முடியும்

A HUMANITARIAN APPEAL.

I have written a number of letters to you with good intentions but there had been no response for anyone of them either from you or from anybody else on your behalf. It is very unfortunate that without taking any of my advice or warnings seriously you and your cadre continue with your atrocious activities without realizing the immense harm and the damage you cause to the Tamil People whom you claim to be solely represented by you and to the poor innocent Sinhala village folks who mind their own business without coming into any confrontation with you and your cadre. Your last Heroes’ Day speech do not give the Tamil People any hope for a bright future but only forecasts a bleak future. At the rate the people are leaving the country Tamils in Sri Lanka will get reduced to an insignificant minority with hardly anyone to speak on their behalf. As a responsible citizen and an elderly Tamil of Sri Lanka I have a moral duty, however unpalatable it may appear to you, to point out the various flaws I observed in your speech which reflects your present day thinking as well. Most matters referred by you are false distorted and exaggerated. I assure you that this letter too is written with the hope of bringing you back to the correct track.

Even at this eleventh hour I once again appeal to you to give-up your un-achievable demand for separation. Stop forth-with your un-civilised way of chopping people to death with their hands tied behind and targeting the Forces with clay more mines in which more victims happen to be civilians and the worst is some are children.

There was a time the International Community took you seriously and made available many facilities for you and your cadre. Now you are so fully exposed that they don’t believe your canards. You talk of Human Rights violations and abductions, in cleared areas. But the whole world knows that such things take place more in your areas. I hope you will not deny this? No one has any right to kill or torture another. I strongly condemn every killing whether it is by the Forces, Paramilitary as you say or even you.

BUDDHISM AND YOU.

You are the last person who can talk about Buddhism. The Buddhist philosophy emphasizes a life without desire, a life of love, compassion and justice. I too endorse the claim of the Sinhalese that with a few exceptions they had followed this path for well over two thousand years. There are people like you in the Sinhalese Community, as you find in various other groups also. These black sheep bring utter discredit to their own race and religion. We need not take note of them. We Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims and other groups have enjoyed each other’s hospitality for generations. It is only in your imaginations that the Sinhalese remained immersed in the poison of racism. There are a few who spit communal venom like you for personal gains. But they don’t claim that they are the sole representatives of the Sinhalese as you claim that you are the sole representative of the Tamil people. It is in doubt whether your own cadre accept you as the sole representative of the Tamils. Please keep your guns aside and open your Iron Curtain to allow free movement of the people. You will hardly find anyone left behind. Then you will realize how correct I am. It will take very many years to neutralize the poison of racism you have injected into the minds of our younger generation. Fortunately the younger generation of the Sinhalese is now free from the communal stigma. They live like children of the same parentage.

COMMUNAL POLITICS IN SRI LANKA.

Your accusation that the Sinhalese are unleashing, unthinkable violence against the Tamils is ridiculous, unbelievable and unacceptable. You are trying to clean your hands soaked in blood, by such silly charges, when the whole world knows that more than half the Tamil population is living in the midst of the Sinhalese and Muslims in the South far away from their traditional homes, that too out of fear for you and to save their children from your conscription. Please be assured that contrary to what you say, during the long history of the Tamil struggle first through non-violence and later even through armed struggle, the right thinking Sinhalese who form the majority stood firmly committed to the high principles of justice fair play and equality. Please learn from the elders as to how the Tamils lived in peace with all the other communities for generation in the past, spread all over Sri Lanka.

THE CULTURE OF THE TAMIL PEOPLE

The Tamils of Sri Lanka were always proud of their culture and civilization. Brutal murders and tortures are some thing very foreign to them. You are the one who have introduced this new culture of brutality, shooting and hacking people to death. The Tamil people were not accustomed to brutality and terrorism. Some cruel murders had taken place during the few communal riots that had taken place in the past. Those killings were by some hoodlums. The Sinhala civilians had always been sympathetic and also saved the Tamils from their hoodlums. There are several instances in which your brutality exceeded all limits, to the extent of mercilessly killing many women and children. You did not spare even pregnant women and babies. Can you mention one such incident that had taken place in which the Sinhalese civilians had participated. If so I like to know when and where? But disgracefully there are several brutal incidents in which you and your cadre had been fully involved and put the blame on some unidentified persons. But the people know very well in which of the incidents your cadre were involved and in which incident some others are involved. I am not holding a brief to anybody. What I maintain is that Sinhala civilians did not have any hand in any brutal killings of Tamils as claimed by you. If there are any exceptions they were during the communal riots that took place a few times between 1958 and 1983. The riots of 1983 and the mini riots confined to Trincomalee alone, were also due to the deliberate provocations you gave. The Tamil public servants, teachers, doctors, and such others had been killed by you in large numbers and not by the Sinhalese as claimed by you. Can you say that your hands are clean in this respect? You are the one who should take full responsibility for all such killings among the Tamils.

THE THINKING OF THE ORDINARY SINHALESE.

As accused by you, the Sinhalese never changed inspite of so much of destruction you caused to their property and the innumerable innocent lives of men, women and children they lost in bomb blasts, claymore mine attacks, suicide bomb attacks etc. They were deliberately planted by your cadre on your instructions to provoke a backlash in predominantly Sinhala populated areas. Every one knows that you are trying hard to provoke a backlash to have a repeated performance of July, 1983 in which every Tamil in the South got badly affected. You did it to cause discredit to the country and its people. The credit goes to the ordinary Sinhalese for saving the lives of hundreds of thousands of Tamil lives spread all over the South of the country. The hoodlums responsible for the backlash too have now become wiser and not falling into your trap, inspite of your repeated brutal killings of the Sinhalese almost every day.

THE PEOPLE AND THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY.

Please take it from me that the People and the International Community are not at all satisfied with your conduct. You are losing your creditability day by day. They do not approve your causing the death of several thousands of our people Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims and people of other ethnic groups and the destruction of billions and billions worth of property. Over thirty thousand widows and thousands of orphans had been created. Thousands had lost their eye sights and limbs. Over twenty thousand Tamil youths of both sexes and double that number of youths from the Sinhale and Muslim Communities had been sacrificed in the battle field, all of whom came from very poor Sinhalese Tamil and Muslim families. If only every one in this country has an atom of sympathy for these unfortunate youths and their parents, there won’t be any problem in this country to be solved by fighting a war. People say that you have taken them for a ride. The Sinhalese people also feel the same about some of their leaders. The average people want peace with equal treatment for all. They do not want preferential treatment for anybody. The Tamil People want you either to give up your demand for separation and negotiate with the Government or to leave them alone to manage their affairs.

In your heroes’ day speech, which every one was anxiously waiting for, you have ungratefully condemned everyone who helped you to a very great extent. By doing so you had earned their wrath and displeasure. You are going to be isolated by everybody, resulting in your facing a very bitter future, with no salvation. No one is going to believe your boastings any more. I am aware that you, being in the bunkers all the time, are not in a position to know what is happening outside. Please come back to your senses and face realities before it is too late. The People had tolerated you for exactly twenty five years. Is there no end to their agony? Please don’t be guided by your supporters living abroad and some Tamil media that glorify you even for your actions that deserve condemnation. They are well settled with their wives and children abroad. Some of them have thoroughly exploited your name and made a lot of money. Many of them had deserted you with the wealth they have acquired in your name. Hence please don’t trust them any more. Most of their children do not know even one word of Tamil. It is the same with some who run the media in your name in foreign counties.

THE FALL OF THE EASTERN PROVINCE.

Let me deal with your claim that you have withdrawn from the East as a part of your strategy. It is foolish on your part to say so and to expect that the others will believe it. The whole world knows that your back bone was broken with the defection of your Eastern Commander Karuna and also that it had a big impact on the North, which you are now holding with an uncertain future. It is foolish not to expect the Government forces to take the best advantage of the prevailing situation. Please take it for granted that the East is lost for ever and re-capturing same is only a day-dream. The local people in the East will not extend their support to you any more.

They are happy that they had been liberated from your subjugation, inspite of the fact that they had virtually lost almost everything that belonged to them and that they have to start from the scrap. They are happy that they have now been freed and can move about freely to re-establish themselves. Most of the houses there are either destroyed fully or partly and whether it is due to your shelling or due to the shelling and bombing by the forces, it is you who should take the full blame for it. Because it were you who invited the army into the villages by attacking them from among the civilians, virtually using the civilians as human shields. You have irresponsibly sown land-mines all over, causing immense hardships for the civilians some of whom had lost their lives and limbs due to the land mines. The People have tasted the bitterness of your so called freedom struggle, going on for quarter of a century. Before you meet with the same fate in the North also, please change your aggressive mood, tame your cadre and go to the people as a non-violent force, throwing away all your arms. The moment you stop fighting and give up your arms the Government will have no alternative but to stop fighting. If you have any sympathy for the young men in your cadre who are getting killed in large numbers every day, please call for a cease-fire unilaterally and save the lives of the children of the poor parents, most of whom had been recruited by you compulsorily.

THE MUSLIMS OF THE NORTH.

I need not remind you what you did to the Muslims of the North. At short notice they were driven out of the North. They had to leave behind all their movables and immovables and were permitted to take only Rs. 500/=. They are still, after 17 years, languishing in over 150 refugee camps in the South. You have neither tendered any apology to them nor invited them to return to their respective homes. Having created a situation like this, how do you expect to convince the International Community of your innocence?

THE INTERVENTION OF THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY.

I am surprised at the baseless charges you have leveled against the International Community accusing them of involving in our ethnic issue, with selfish motives. You have also said that you understand their concerns to take forward their interests. This is one of your most ungrateful accusations against the International Community from whom you derived innumerable help. You have got from some of them financial assistance and many others in kind. The whole world knows how much assistance you got from them and to what extent you humiliated and embarrassed some of them. Can you spell out which country is interested in getting what from you and from this country? This clearly shows the world as to what extent you are frustrated.

As far as I see every country is very seriously concerned about the sufferings of the people, inflicted on them by you and your cadre. The Tamils, Sinhalese, Muslims, Malays, Burghers and people from other small ethnic groups without an exception are undergoing hardships. Every one is interested in bringing back peace and normalcy to our country. The Japanese special envoy was here the 15th time. They all know that yours is a ruthless organization that should be eradicated completely. Yet they keep on asking the Government of Sri Lanka to commence talks with you. You are not unaware how some local leaders embarrass them by accusing them of supporting you. Even the Government had made such accusations against certain countries and NGOs. I too had found fault with some for favouring you. Don’t forget that you are just an individual and not the Head of a State for them to salute you. The International Community has a moral duty to liberate the people living under your subjugation. My charge against the International Community and the United Nations is that, inspite of my repeated requests for the liberation of the people in areas under your control, they have not taken any action. The International Community is not expecting compensation for the insults and humiliations they have suffered in your hands and in the hands of some local leaders. All what they want is peace and normalcy back in Sri Lanka. That is all.

THE ROLE OF INDIA.

India is the country from where we all came and therefore it has some interest in us and hence has a major role to play. India is a large country with the second largest in population. Being separated by a strait of only 22 miles, it has a moral duty to rush to the aid of Sri Lanka in times of distress. It had proved it on a number of occasions such as floods cyclone, Tsunami and even insurrection. Rightly or wrongly the Indian Government intervened and negotiated a settlement to the ethnic problem. India’s intervention was at the request of the Tamil leadership and the accord was singed by India on behalf of the Tamils to facilitate easy implementation. India was asked to do so by the TULF which won all Tamil majority seats in the North and the East, except one seat which the TULF lost by only about 500 votes. This election was not like the one conducted by you in 2004. If you had not shown your ruthlessness, the people would have been living peacefully in this country, with the implementation of the accord in 1989. Today the country would have progressed, over taking all the other Asian countries and would have been a leading nation. You should be held responsible for the present state of affairs. It is you who acted as Para-military force of the Government at that time for a consideration of lorry loads of money, arms and ammunitions and disrupted the implementation of the Indo-Sri Lanka accord. Now after eradicating a large number of ex-members of various Tamil groups who had returned to the democratic stream, you now ridiculously accuse them as Para-military force of the Government, completely forgetting what you did in 1989. You are the one who first garlanded and received the IPKF and later fought it as Para-military of the Sri Lankan Government at that time and killed over 1200 IPKF soldiers and also created about 1000 widows of Indian Jawans. There were some unpleasant incidents in which you compelled the IPKF to get involved in. They came to keep peace in Sri Lanka and not to fight. Please don’t forget that the IPKF was not comprised of Gandhians. They were also human beings and their tolerance too had its limitations. You must take full responsibility for any atrocities you deliberately got them involved in.

Your cadre cut the heads of Sikh soldiers and hung them in public places by their hair. Your cadre attacked the soldiers and cowardly ran into the hospital resulting in the soldiers firing at the doctors indiscriminately without knowing their identity. Your women cadre fired at the soldiers when they were descending by parachute. This is the type of provocation your cadre deliberately gave the IPKF to discredit them. The leaders of Tamil Nadu, who are engaged in false propaganda, should be told that it is true that a few hundred people were killed in Jaffna but certainly not seven thousand as claimed by them.

Why don’t you tell the world that it was the IPKF that rounded you up atleast thrice and allowed you to escape only to help to find a solution with your participation. You showed your gratitude to India by reducing the ex Prime Minister of India Hon. Rajiv Gandhi to pulp. How long do you think it will take for India to get at you, if it determines to catch you? How long will it take for Sri Lanka to catch you if India wants your extradition? Both the Governments had taken a lenient view of this matter, for the only reason that both Governments do not want to disrupt the Peace Process by arresting you. Are you not aware that the Tamil Nadu assembly has requested the Central Government for your extradition from Sri Lanka.

WHAT NEXT?

You are not the Prabaharan of the nineteen eighties. You are now a matured person who should be in a position to understand and assess the situation. Please take my advice and give up your demand for separation. Agree for a reasonable solution based on the Indian Model for which the International Community will give you full backing. Surprisingly you will find a large section of the people of Sri Lanka also supporting you.

A ray of hope now appears on the horizon to pull this country out of this muddle. The Government is seriously considering to find a solution to the country’s problem but due to the difficulties in finding a 2/3rd majority and going for a referendum to amend the constitution, is proposing to implement the 13th Amendment to the constitution while the deliberations of the APRC will continue till a final solution is arrived at.

I do not suggest that this will meet the aspirations and the grievances of the Tamil speaking minorities. Your giving up the demand for separation will certainly bring a lot of changes in the thinking of every one and will also create a favourable atmosphere to find a reasonable and acceptable solution. I want you to stop fighting and save the lives of several innocent people on both sides. Please agree to accept the Interim Administration and bring peace to our country and our people. If you decide to accept the Interim Administration or even opt for an election, I will go all out to put you and your cadre in responsible position.

Every one including your cadre are all yearning for peace. Please understand that I am agreeable to meet you and discus matters. Kindly do not treat me as an enemy. If you give up arms and also your demand for separation I assure you that the country will be prepared to pardon you. Then all can sit down and workout a reasonable solution.

பெரும் மதிப்புக்குரிய இராஜாராம்

கண்ணியமிக்க தமிழ்நாட்டு அரசியல்வாதியும் முன்னாள் தமிழ்நாட்டு சட்டசபையின் சபாநாயகருமான பெரும் மதிப்புக்குரிய இராஜாராம் அவர்களின் திடீர் மரணச் செய்தி மிக்க வேதனை தருகிறது. கண்ணியமான அரசியல்வாதியாக செயற்பட்ட அமரர் இராஜாராம் அவர்கள் தன்னிடம் உதவி நாடி வந்த அனைவருக்கும் தன்னால் ஆன சேவையை மறுக்கவேயில்லை. அவர் ஓர் சிறந்த தேசபக்தரும் ஆவார்.

அன்னாருக்கும் எனக்கும் ஏற்பட்ட உறவு 30 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு மேலானதாகும். 1976ம் ஆண்டு பிற்பகுதியில் இலங்கையில் தலைசிறந்த சட்ட வல்லுனரும் அகில இலங்கை தமிழ் காங்கிரஸ் கட்சியின் ஸ்தாபகத் தலைவருமாகிய காலம் சென்ற ஜீ.ஜீ.பொன்னம்பலம் கீ.ய+.சி அவர்களை தற்போதைய தமிழ்நாட்டு முதலமைச்சர் டாக்டர் கலைஞர் மு.க.கருணாநிதி அவர்களின் அன்றைய அரசு 1976ல் கலைக்கப்பட்ட வேளை அவரின் வழக்கில் ஆஜராகி அவரை அழைத்து வந்த வேளை ஏற்பட்ட உறவாகும். கௌரவ ஜீ.ஜீ.பொன்னம்பலம் அவர்களின் நிகழ்ச்சிகளுக்கு பொறுப்பாயிருந்து செயற்பட்டவர் மதிப்புக்குரிய இராஜாராம் அவர்களாகும்.

வழக்கு வெற்றிகரமாக முடிந்த பின் நாடு திரும்பி அமரர் எஸ்.ஜே.வி செல்வநாயகம் கிய+.சி இலங்கை தொழிலாளர் காங்கிரஸ் தலைவர் அமரர் எஸ். தொண்டமான் ஆகியோருடன் இணைந்து தமிழ்ர் விடுதலைக் கூட்டனி தலைமை பதவியை திரு ஜீ.ஜீ. பொன்னம்பலம் அவர்கள் ஏற்க இருந்தார்கள். பின் துர்திஸ்டவசமாக சென்னையிலிருந்து சிங்கப்பூருக்கு சென்ற அமரர் அவர்களின் பூதவுடலையே நாம் கொழும்பிலிருந்து வரவேற்க வேண்டிய துர்ப்பாக்கிய நிலை ஏற்பட்டது.

அமரர் இராஜாராம் அவர்களை 1980ம் ஆண்டு ஸம்பியாவின் தலைநகரான லுசாக்காவில் மீண்டும் சந்திக்கும் அரியவாய்ப்பு கிடைத்தது. தமிழ்நாட்டு சட்டசபை சபாநாயகராக அவரும் இலங்கை நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினரான நானும் பொது நல அரசுகளின் வருடாந்த மாநாட்டில் கலந்து கொள்ள சென்றிருந்தோம். அங்கே வாழ்ந்த தமிழ் அன்பர்களால் ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டிருந்த மகாவி சுப்பிரமணியம பாரதியார் அவர்களின் நூற்றாண்டு விழாவில் இருவரும் கலந்து கொண்டோம். நாடு திரும்பும் வழியில் அன்னார் இலங்கை;கு வருகை தந்து வவுனியாவில் நடைபெற்ற பண்டாரவன்னியன் விழாவில் சிறப்பு விருந்தினராக கலந்து கொண்டார்.

1983ம் ஆண்டு தொடக்கம் 1989ம் ஆண்டு வரை நான் சென்னையில் தங்கியிருந் போது அடிக்கடி சந்திக்கும் வாய்ப்பையும் பிரச்சார கூட்டங்கள் பலதரப்பட்ட நிகழ்ச்சிகளிலும் கலந்து கொள்ளும் வாய்ப்பை பெற்றிருந்தேன்.தமிழர் விடுதலைக் கூட்டனி தலைவர்கள் அமரர்கள் அ.அமிர்தலிங்கம் தலைவர்.மு.சிவசிதம்பரம் மேலும் இரா.சம்பந்தன் போன்ற அனைவருடனும் நெருங்கிய உறவு கொண்டிருந்தார். பொதுவாக அவர் இலங்கை தமிழ் மக்கள் தலைவர்கள் ஆகியோர் மீது மிகவும் அன்புடனும் அன்பும் பற்றும் கொண்டிருந்தார்.அனைவருக்கும் அளப்பரிய சேவை செய்தார்.மொத்தத்தில் அவர் ஓர் மறக்கமுடியாத பெரும் மனிதர்.


அன்னாரின் பிரிவைத் தாங்காது துயறுரும் உற்றார் உறவினர்களுக்கும் தொகுதி மக்கள் தமிழ் நாட்டு மக்கள் அனைவருக்கும் தமிழர் விடுதலைக் கூட்டனி சார்பாகவும் என் சார்பாகவும் எமது ஆழ்ந்த அனுதாபத்தை தெரிவிக்கிறேன். அன்னாரின் ஆத்மா சாந்தியடைய பிராத்திக்கின்றோம்.

PRESS RELEASE - SHREE K. RAJARAM

With utter dismay I received the news of the sudden demise of Shree. K. Rajaram a long standing Tamil Nadu Politician and Ex-Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Assembly. He was a gentleman politician who made his services available to everyone who needed his help. He was a great patriot as well.

My association with him extends to a period of over 30 years. It was in late 1976 that l took the Late Hon. G. G. Ponnambalam Q.C President of the All Ceylon Tamil Congress and a reputed Criminal Lawyer in Sri Lanka to Madras to defend the Present Chief Minister Hon. Dr. Kalaignar M. Karunanithy after his Government of 1976 was dismissed. It was the Late Hon. K. Rajaram who took charge of Hon. G. G. Ponnambalam’s programme during his stay in Chennai.

Incidentally Hon. G. G. Pannambalam was to assume office as Joint President of the TULF along with the Late Hon. S. J. V. Chelvanayagam Q.C and the Late Hon. S. Tondaman President of the Ceylon Workers Congress, on his return to Colombo after the case. Little did we realise then that Hon. G. G. Ponnambalam was on his last journey and will not return alive. He flew to Singapore, from where only his remains arrived for us to receive at the Katunayake Air Port.

In 1980 I once again met Hon. Rajaram at Luzaka in Zambia where both of us attended the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Conference. He represented Tamil Nadu as its speaker and I represented as a Member of Parliament from Sri Lanka. During our short stay we participated in the 100th anniversary celebration of Mahakavi Subramania Barathiar, organised by the Tamils there. On his way back home he visited Sri Lanka and was the chief quest at the Bandaravanniyan Commemoration meeting at Vavunia.

During my long stay in Chennai between October 1983 and December 1989 we used to meet off and on. We had attended many functions and also addressed a number of meetings. He was very friendly and much helpful to the Leaders of the Tamil United Liberation Front like the Late Mr. A. Amirthalingam, the Late Mr. M. Sivasithamparam and many others like Mr. R. Sampanthan.

I send my deepest sympathies to his kith and kin, his constituents and the People of Tamil Nadu. May his sole rest in Peace.

அப்பாவி பொது மக்கள் மீது கை வைக்காதே என இந்தியா விடுதலைப்புலிகளை எச்சரிக்க வேண்டும்.

கோட்டை புகையிரத நிலைய மிருகத்தனமான தாக்குதலில் 12 பேர் உயிரிழந்து 100 பொது மக்கள் படுகாயம் அடைந்த சம்பவத்தை வன்மையாக கண்டிக்கிறேன். கண்டியிலிருந்து தம்புள்ள நோக்கி வந்த பேருந்தில் ஏற்பட்ட குண்டுத் தாக்குதலில் 20 பேர் மரணித்தும் 16 பேர் காயமுற்ற சம்பவமும் படு கோழைத்தனமான செயலாகும்.

கடந்த வாரம் மன்னார் மடுவுக்கு அண்மையில் ஏற்பட்ட கிளைமோர் தாக்குதலில் மாணவர்கள் சிலர் உட்பட 18 பேர் மரணித்தது மற்றும் பல பேர் படுகாயமடைந்ததும் மகிழ்ச்சிக்குரிய விடயமல்ல. இரு தினங்களுக்கு முன் திருநெல்வேலி தற்கொலைக் குண்டுதாரி முட்டாள் தனமாக தனது உயிரையும் மேலும் நான்கு பேரின் உயிரை எடுத்ததோடு 18 பேருக்கு மேல் காயம் ஏற்படுத்தியிருந்தார்.கடந்த வாரம் கெப்பிற்றிக் கொலாவில் இனம் தெரியாத கடுமையாக பழுதடைந்திருந்த சடலங்கள் கிடங்குகளில் கண்டெடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.

மொத்தத்தில் 70 உயிர்கள் பறித்தெடுக்கப்பட்டு படுகாயமடைந்த 150 பேருக்கு மேற்பட்டோருக்கு சொல்லொண்ணா துன்பங்களை ஏற்படுத்தி பல விதவைகள் அனாதைகள் அங்கவீனர்கள் உருவாக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.

இந் நிலமையை உருவாக்கியதில் தமிழ் ஊடகங்களுக்கு ஓரளவு பங்குண்டு என்பதை மீண்டும் வலியுறுத்துகிறேன். ஊடகங்கள் அத்தனையும் ஒரு முகமாக இச்செயலை வன்மையாக கண்டிக்காமை விடுதலைப் புலிகளுக்கு கணிசமான அளவு உற்சாகத்தை கொடுத்திருக்கிறது.ஊடகங்கள் பரந்தளவில் செயற்படும் தம் நிருபர்கள் மூலம் இத்தகைய சம்பவங்கள் சம்பந்தமான துப்புக்களை சம்பந்தப்பட்ட அதிகாரிகளுக்கு கொடுத்து குற்றவாளிகளை கண்டுபிடிக்க உதவலாம்.அத்தகைய தமது கடமைகளை மறந்த ஊடகங்கள் மற்றவர்கள் மீது குற்றம் சுமத்தக் கூடாது. ஒருவரின் உயிரை இன்னுமொருவர் எடுக்கும் உரிமை யாருக்கும் கிடையாது என நம்புவதால் நான் ஒவ்வொரு கொலையையும் கண்டித்து வந்துள்ளேன்.

தற்சமயம் நான் ஜக்கிய ராட்ச்சியத்தில் நிற்பதால் யாழ் நகரில் பிரசுரமாகும் ஒரு தமிழ் தினசரியில் நான் சிங்கள மக்களின் கொலைகளுக்கு மட்டும் கண்டனம் தெரிவிப்பதாகவும் தமிழர்களின் கொலைகள் பற்றி கண்டிப்பது இல்ii எனவும் குற்றம் சாட்டியுள்ளாதாக அறிவிக்கபட்டுள்ளது அத்தகைய ஒரு முடிவுக்கு வருவது மிகவும் தவறாகும். அப்பத்திரிகை குறிப்பாக அடையாளம் காணப்படாத 16 சடலங்கள் பற்றியே குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளது. நான் நாட்டில் இருக்கும் வரை அச்சடலங்கள் அடையாளம் காணப்படவில்லை.

இப் 16 துர்பாக்கியவான்களின் சடலங்களின் இன அடையாளம் சம்பந்தப்பட்ட பத்திரிகை ஆசிரியர் அறிந்திருப்பின் என்னை வீண்வம்புக்கு இழுக்காமல் சம்பந்தப்பட்ட அதிகாரிகளுக்கு விபரம் தெரிவிப்பதே கண்ணியமான செயலாகும்.வடக்கிலும் கிழக்கிலும் நடைபெறும் அதிகமான கொலைகளுக்கு விடுதலைப்புலிகளே பொறுப்பானவர்கள். விடுதலைப்புலிகள் நினைத்தால் ஏனைய கொலைகளையும் நிறுத்த முடியும்.

தென்னிலங்கையில் நடைபெறும் பெரும்பாலான கொலைகளுக்கு சந்தேகமின்றி விடுதலைப்புலிகளே பொறுப்பு. இப்பத்திரிகை ஏன் இக் கொலைகளை கண்டிப்பதில்லை. என்னை என்ன செய்ய வேண்டும? என இப்பத்திரிகை ஆசிரியர் ஏன் வாசகர்களைக் கேட்க வேண்டும். திடசங்கமாக இவ் ஆசிரியர் யாருக்கோ ஓர் செய்தி அனுப்புகிறார். அந்த நபர் யார்? ஆசிரியர் அனுப்பும் செய்தி தான் என்ன?.

நான் ஒவ்வொரு கொலையையும் மிருகத்தனமான கொலை என்றே கண்டிப்பேன். யாரும் யாரையும் கொலை செய்யுமாறு தூண்ட மாட்டேன். விடுதலைப்புலிகள் இக் கொலையை உடன் நிறுத்த வேண்டும். அது அவர்களுக்கு எந்த விதத்திலும் உதவாது. மாறாக நாளுக்கு நாள் தமது மதிப்பை தான் இழந்து கொண்டு போவார்கள் சர்வதேச சமூகமும் அப்படி பொது மக்கள் மீது தாக்குதல் நடத்துவதை கை விடுமாறு விடுதலைப்புலிகளுக்கு எச்சரிக்கை விட வேண்டும். இராணுவத்தினர் மத்தியில் கறுப்பு செம்மறிகள் உண்டு. அத்தகைய கறுப்பு ஆடுகள் பொது மக்களை தாக்கும் போது எல்லாம் இனம்கண்டு தமது உயர் அதிகாரிகளின் கவனத்திற்க்கு ஏனையவர்கள் கொண்டு செல்ல வேண்டும்.

இப்போ விடுதலைப்புலிகளுக்கு எஞ்சியுள்ள ஒரே வழி ஓர் இனகலவரத்தை ஏற்படுத்துவதே. அதற்காக சிங்கள மக்கள் தயார் இல்லை. ஏன் எனில் இலங்கை வாழ் தமிழ் மக்கள் பாதிக்கு மேற்பட்டோர் சிங்கள முஸ்லீம் மக்கள் மத்தியில் வாழுகிறார்கள் என்பதை நன்கு அறிந்து அவர்களுக்கு பாதுகாப்பு அளிக்க வேண்டிய பொறுப்பு தமது என்பதை அறிந்து வைத்துள்ளனர். விடுதலைப்புலிகள் சுயநலத்துடன் இரத்த வெறி பிடித்தவர்கள் என்பதை தமிழ் மக்கள் அறிந்துள்ளார்கள். விடுதலைப்புலிகளுடன் வாழ்வது எவ்வளவு சங்கடம் என்பதை நன்கறிந்துள்ளனர்.

தமது பொறுப்பை உணர்ந்து தமிழ் மக்கள் விடுதலைப் புலிகளின் குண்டுகள் கிளைமோர் குண்டுகள் புதைக்கப்படும் இடங்;களை பற்றிய தகவல்களை பாதுகாப்பு அதிகாரிகளுக்கு வழங்க வேண்டும். மன்னார் சம்பவம் அரச படையினரின் ஊடுருவித்தாக்கும் பிரிவினரால் ஏற்பட்டதென்று விடுதலைப்புலிகள் கூறுவர்களேவானால் அவர்கள் தமிழ் மக்களுக்கு பாதுகாப்பு கொடுக்கும் திறமையை இழந்துவிட்டார்கள் என ஒப்பு கொண்டு தமது போராளிகளை அரசிடம் சரணடைய வைக்கவேண்டும். திருநெல்வேலிச் சம்பவத்துக்கு யார் பொறுப்பு? சுதந்திர தினத்தன்றும் தம் கடமையை செய்யத் தவறாத புலிகள் 15 உயிர்களை அன்றும் எடுத்துள்ளனர்.

தாம் தொடர்ந்து சர்வதேச சமூகத்தை ஏமாற்றலாம் என விடுதலைப்புலிகள் கருதக் கூடாது. இங்கே குறிப்பிட்டுள்ள 5 சம்பவங்களில் விடுதலைப்புலிகள் சம்பந்தப்பட்டவை. எவை அரச படைகள் சம்பந்தப்பட்டவை எவை என்பதை தமிழ் மக்கள் அறியப்பட வேண்டும். இந்திய அரசு தலையிட்டு அப்பாவி பொதுமக்கள் மீது கை வைக்காதே என் புலிகளை எச்சரிக்க வேண்டிய காலம் வந்துவிட்டது.

HANDS OF CIVILIANS - INDIA MUST NOW STEP IN AND WARN THE LTTE

Hands off civilians! India must now step in and warn the LTTE,

I very strongly condemn the most brutal killings of 12 innocent ones and injuring about 100 innocent passengers at the Fort Railway Station and the cowardly attack on the Kandy – Dambulla bus causing the death of 20 innocent civilians and injuring 16 others. Only last week 18 civilians, some of whom are students, were killed near Madu in Mannar with 20 others badly injured. Two days back at Thirunnelvely in Jaffna a suicide bomber foolishly took his life along with four others, leaving 18 people seriously injured. Also last week 16 unidentified persons decomposed bodies were found in pits in Kepitigolawa. A total of 70 lives had been snatched away and more than 150 had been put to immense hardship, for no fault of theirs. Apart from some blood-thirsty lunatics quenched their thirst, a number of widows, orphans and disabled had been created.

I reiterate that the Tamil media, both print and electronic, should bear part of the blame. Their failure to condemn these killings in one voice, gives some encouragement to the LTTE terrorists. With a good network of their reporters, they can easily assist the authorities to detect the real culprits. Without doing their duty they find fault with others. As for me I always condemn every killing for I believe that no one has any rights to take the life of another.

At the moment, I am in the UK. I am informed that a Tamil daily based in Jaffna accused me for not condemning the killings of Tamils but only condemn the killings of Sinhalese. It is wrong for anyone to come to such conclusions. The said paper had made specific reference to the 16 dead bodies found in Kepitigolawa. These bodies had not been identified at the time I left Sri Lanka.

If the editor of that paper claims to know the identities of those 16 unfortunate victims the most honourable thing for him to do is to bring it to the notice of the authorities, without dragging me into this. Most of the killings in the North and the East are by the LTTE themselves. If the LTTE is serious they can easily prevent the rest of the killings. Large scale killings of Sinhalese in the South is undoubtedly by the LTTE. Why can’t this paper condemn these killings? Why should this editor ask the readers as to what should be done to me? The editor is obviously sending a message to somebody. Who is that somebody? What is the message he is sending?

I condemn every such killing as brutal and will not dare to encourage any such killings. The LTTE leader must cry halt to all killings. It will not take them anywhere. Instead they lose their credibility day by day. It is high time the International Community warn the LTTE to refrain from causing the death of innocent civilians. There are a few blacksheep in the Forces too. It is duty of the fellow soldiers to bring to the notice of their superiors, if any solder is seen causing harm to the civilians.

The LTTE’s only hope now is to start a backlash for which the Sinhalase are not prepared. The Sinhalese know very well that half the Tamil population is living in the South amidst the Sinhalese and the Muslims and it is their duty to safeguard them. The Tamils trust the Sinhalese more than the LTTE, which is selfish and blood-thirsty. They know how difficult it would be for them to live under the LTTE. The Tamil people should realise their responsibility and help the Forces to detect any attempt by the LTTE to plant bombs and claymore mines. If the LTTE claims that the Mannar claymore mine attack was by the penetrating unit of the Forces, LTTE must confess that they can’t give any protection to the Tamil Civilians and surrender their cadre to the Forces. Who is responsible for the Thirunnelvely incident? They have not failed to take their toll on the independence day also totalling 15 in various incidents.

The LTTE should not think that they can keep on hoodwinking the International community, I wish to ask the Tamil media as to which of these five incidents referred to here are by the LTTE and which one is by the Forces. The time has now come for India to step in and tell the LTTE “ hands off civilians”.

அப்பாவி மக்கள் 26 பேரின் உயிரைக் குடித்து மேலும் 65 பேருக்கு கடும் காயத்தை விளைவித்த விடுதலைப்புலிகளின் மிக கீழ்த்தரமான கோளைத்தனமான செயலை தமிழர் விடுதலைக் கூட்டணி வன்மையாகக் கண்டிக்கிறது. மிகவேகமாக பொறுமையை இழந்து வரும் சர்வதேச சமூகத்தினரை கடும் கோபத்திற்குள்ளாக்குவதைத் தவிர வேறு எந்த நன்மையையும் பெற்றுத்தராத இந்த வகையான அப்பாவி மக்களின் கொலைகளை விடுதலைப்புலிகள் கைவிடவேண்டும். மனித சமுதாயத்தின் மத்தியில் கொடூர மிருகங்களுக்கு இடமில்லை. மனித உள்ளம் கொண்ட எமக்கு சில புனிதமான கடமைப்பாடுண்டு. ஒழித்து விளையாடாது ஒவ்வொருவரும் தமது ஆதங்கங்களை வெளிப்படுத்தவேண்டும்.

நான் பல தடவை ஊடகங்களை குறிப்பாக உலகளாவிய தமிழ் ஊடகங்களை விடுதலைப்புலிகளின் மிருகத்தனமான செயல்களை கண்டிக்காமைக்கு கண்டித்துள்ளேன். அவர்கள் அப்படிச் செய்யாமை விடுதலைப்புலிகள் மேலும் மேலும் மக்களைப் பீதியடையச் செய்யத் தூண்டியுள்ளது. சில மனித உரிமை அமைப்புக்களும் இதே தவறைச் செய்துள்ளன. நான் சகல இன மக்களையும,; ஊடகங்களையும் மனித உரிமை அமைப்புக்களையும் , தமிழ் தேசிய கூட்டமைப்பு உட்பட சகல கட்சித் தலைவர்களையும் விடுதலைப்புலிகள் தமது பயங்கரவாதச்செயல்களை விடுத்து ஒவ்வொரு குடும்பத்திலும் உள்ளவர்கள் ஒருவருக்கொருவர் ஒத்தாசையாக வாழும் ஏழைக் கிராமவாசிகளை விட்டு வைக்குமாறு கேட்கவேண்டும். இந்த ஏகோபித்த கோரிக்கை அவர்கள் இத்தகைய செயல்களில் எதிர்காலத்தில் ஈடுபடாது தடுக்க உதவலாம். மேலும் இத்தகைய கொடுஞ்செயல்களை தொடர்ந்து மக்கள் பொறுத்துக் கொண்டிருக்க மாட்டார்கள் என்பதையும் அவர்களுக்கு உணர்த்தும். சர்வதேச சமூகத்திடம் நான் விடுக்கும் வேண்டுகோள் நாட்டில் தம்மைப் பற்றி தவறான விமர்சனங்களை சிலர் செய்திருப்பினும் கூட அவற்றைப் பொருட்படுத்தாது விடுதலைப்புலிகளின் அக்கிரமச்செயல்களை தொடர்ந்து பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருக்கமாட்டோம் என எச்சரிக்கவேண்டும் என்பதே.

The TULF very strongly condemns the most brutal and cowardly act of the LTTE that caused the death of 26 innocent civilians and also left, over sixty five seriously injured. It is high time the LTTE stop killing innocent civilians, which is not going to serve any purpose other than infuriating the International Community which is fast losing its patience. There should be no place for ferocious animals in the human society. We as humans have a sacred duty to perform. Without playing hide and seek, every one should express their deep concerns.

I have more than once found fault with the media, particularly the Tamil media all over the world for their failure to condemn these ruthless activities of the LTTE. Their failure to do so, in one way amounts to encouraging the LTTE to terrorise the civilians more and more. Some Human Rights activists too make the same mistake. I call upon all the people whichever community they belong to, the media, human rights organizations and heads of all political parties, including the TNA to condemn this ruthless act and to urge the LTTE to spare the innocent village folks who depend on each other in their family, for survival. This united demand will act as a deterrent for any such activities in the future and will also make them realize that they are not going to be tolerated for ever. I also plead with the International Community to ignore what ever adverse comment some might have made in reference to their activities and to warn the LTTE that they will not just keep on watching the atrocious acts perpetrated on the civilians.

I express my deepest sympathies for the relatives of the unfortunate victims.

வணக்கம், நான் இலங்கையில் இருந்து புலம் பெயர்ந்து லண்டனில் வசித்து வந்தாலும் எமது மக்களின் நலனிலும் தேசத்தின் பற்றுதலிலும் அக்கறை கொண்டவன் என்ற வகை யில் இம் மடலை எழுதுவதன் மூலம் எனது மனக்குமுறல்களையும் வேதனை களையும் வெளிப்படுத்தலாம் என நான் கருதுகின்றேன். அதுமட்டுமல்ல நீங்கள் பல விடயங்களைக் கற்றறிந் தவர் மூன்று பிள்ளைகளின் தாயர். தற்போது உங்களைப் பொதுப்பணிக ளிலும் ஈடுபடுத்திக் கொண்டவர் என்ப தும் மேலும் ஒரு காரணம் இம் மடலை உங்களுக்கு எழுதுவதற்கு.

தற்போது ஏற்பட்டுள்ள நெருக்கடி யான சூழல் எமக்கு கடந்தகால அனு பவங்கள், கடந்து வந்த பாதைகள் என்பவற்றை திரும்பிப் பார்க்கத் தூண்டு கின்றது. தமிழ் மக்களுக்கான விடுத லைப் போராட்டம் என்ற விடயத்தை எடுத்துப் பார்த்தால் 1987 ஆம் ஆண்டு வரை மட்டுமே அது இடம்பெற்றுள்ளது. அதன் பின்பு இடம்பெற்ற யுத்தம் அனைத்துமே விடுதலைப் புலிகளின் நலனைச் சார்ந்ததாகவே நாம் கருது கின்றோம். மக்களுக்கான போராட்டம் என்றால் அதில் மக்களின் நலன் உள்ளடக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும். ஆனால் தற்போது இலங்கையில் நடைபெற் றுக்கொண்டிருக்கின்ற யுத்தம் தமிழ் மக்களின் எந்தவொரு நலனையும் சார்ந்திருக்கவில்லை. மாறாக விடுத லைப் புலிகளை இராணுவ ரீதியாக வளர்ப்பதற்கும், தனிப்பட்ட அமைப்பை வளர்ப்பதற்கான யுத்த நடவடிக்கை யாக அமைகின்றது.

இந்திய- இலங்கை ஒப்பந்தம் 1987ம் ஆண்டில் கைச்சாத்திடப்பட்ட சமயம் புலிகள் உட்பட அனைத்துப் போராட்ட அமைப்புக்களும் ஜனநாய கப் பாதைக்குத் தாம் திரும்புவதாக அறிவித்திருந்தது. தலைவர் பிரபாகரன் சுதுமலையில் மக்கள் முன் முதன் முதலில் உரையாற்றியது அதற்கு சான்றாக அமைந்திருந்தது. அச் சந் தர்ப்பத்தைப் பயன்படுத்தியிருந்தால் நாம் எவ்வளவோ உயிர் அழிவுகளைத் தவிர்த்திருக்க முடியும். அவ்வேளை யில் உயிரிழந்த போராளிகளின் எண் ணிக்கை (631) இந்திய அரசு இலங் கை அரசை எதிரிகளாகவும், தமிழரை நண்பர்களாகவும் பார்த்த காலம் அது. இந்திய அரசு எமது இனத்தின் நலன் சார்ந்து தமிழ் இனத்தின் பாதுகாப்பை உறுதிப்படுத்தவும் எமது எல்லைப் பிரதேசங்களை பாதுகாக்கவும் அமை திப்படையாக எல்லைப் பிரதேசங்களில் நின்ற காலம் அது.

அந்தப் பொன்னான சந்தர்ப்பத்தில் விடுதலைப் புலிகள் சற்று நிதானத்தை யும் அமைதியையும் பேணி வறட்டுக் கௌரவம் இன்றி மக்களின் நலனை கருத்தில் கொண்டு செயற்பட்டிருந்தால் எத்தனையோ விலைமதிப்பற்ற உயி ர்களைப் பாதுகாத்திருக்க முடியும். நூற்றுக்கணக்கான புத்திஜீவிகள், ஆயிரக்கணக்கான போராளிகள், ஆயி ரக்கணக்கான மாற்றுக் கருத்துக் கொ ண்டவர்கள், இலட்சக்கணக்கான பொது மக்கள், கோடிக்கணக்கான சொத்துக் கள் என்பவற்றை இழந்திருக்க வேண் டிய அவசியம் ஏற்பட்டிருக்காது. தவறு நடந்து விட்டது ஏற்றுக் கொள்கிறோம்.

இந்திய- இலங்கை உடன்படிக் கையை ஏற்படுத்தக் காரணமாயிருந்த தலைவர்கள் அமிர்தலிங்கம், யோகே ஸ்வரன், போன்றோர்களை கொலை செய்தார்கள். அதுமட்டுமல்லாது உட ன்படிக்கையை செய்து கொண்ட பார தப் பிரதமர் ராஜீவ்காந்தியை தமிழ்நா ட்டில் வைத்து தற்கொலையாளி மூ லம் கொலை செய்தார்கள். பின்பு அது ஒரு துன்பியல் சம்பவம் என தங்களின் கணவர் 2001ம் ஆண்டில் நடைபெற்ற பத்திரிகையாளர் மாநாட்டில் கூறியிருந்தார். அதனை நாமும் துன் பியல் சம்பவமாக ஏற்றுக் கொள்கின் றோம். அதன் பின்பு எமது இனப்பிரச் சினைக்குத் தீர்வு காண எமக்குக் கிடைத்த இரண்டாவது சந்தர்ப்பம் 1994ல் பொதுத் தேர்தலின் பின்பு சந்திரிகா பண்டாரநாயக்க குமாரதுங்கா பதவியேற்ற பின்பு 1995 இல் மேற் கொள்ளப்பட்ட பேச்சுவார்த்தையின் போது கலாநிதி நீலன் திருச்செல்வம் அவர்களினால் முன்மொழியப்பட்ட அரசியல் சாசன திருத்தத்திற்கான யோசனைகள் அடங்கிய தீர்வுப் பொதி. இந்தத் தீர்வு யோசனையை எடுத்துப் பார்த்தால் தமிழ் மக்களின் அடிப்படை பிரச்சனைகளுக்கு தீர்வு காணக்கூடிய அடிப்படை அம்சங்கள் அனைத்தையு மே கொண்டிருந்தது. இதை நான் மட்டும் கூறவில்லை. விடுதலைப் புலி களின் மதியுரைஞர் ஒரு சந்தர்ப்பத்தில் கூறியிருந்தார். காலம் கடந்த பின் 2001ம் ஆண்டு இடம்பெற்ற பத்தி ரிகையாளர் மாநாட்டில் குறிப்பிட்டிருந் தார். இச் சந்தர்ப்பத்தை விடுதலைப் புலிகளின் தலைமை தங்களுடைய ஆட்சி மோகத்தால் இழந்துள்ளமையை சுட்டிக்காட்டுகின்றது. இந்தக் காலக் கட்டத்தில் இத் தீர்வுத் திட்டத்தை வரைவதற்கு அரும்பாடுபட்ட பல நாடு களுக்கு குறிப்பாக தென் ஆபிரிக்கா போன்ற நாடுகளுக்கு அரசியல் சாச னம் வரைய முக்கிய பங்காற்றிய கலாநிதி நீலன் திருச்செல்வம் அவர் களை தற்கொலை குண்டுதாரி மூலம் கொலை செய்தார்கள். சரி அதையும் மறப்போம். தூரதிஷ்டவசமான சம்பவம் என ஏற்றுக்கொள்கிறோம்.

இதன் பிறகு இனப்பிரச்சினை விடயத்தில் பாரிய முன்னேற்றகரமாக நோர்வே நாட்டின் அனுசரணையுடன் தீர்வுக்கான யுத்த நிறுத்த ஒப்பந்தம் கைச்சாத்திடப்பட்டிருந்தது. நாம் அனைவரும் ஒன்றுபடக் கூறினோம். விடுதலை புலிகளுடன் மட்டும் பேசி எமது பிரச்சனைக்குத் தீர்வு காணும்படி. ஓப்பந்தத்தின் அரசியல் பணிக்காக கட்டம் கட்டமாக இராணுவக் கட்டுப் பாட்டுப் பிரதேசத்துக்கு நுழைந்தார்கள். அரசியல் பணிமனைகளையும் திறந் தார்கள். பல சுற்றுப் பேச்சுவார்த்தை களிலும் பங்குபற்றினார்கள். இதைப் பார்த்த தமிழ் மக்கள் இனியாவது நிம்மதியாக வாழ்க்கையை ஆரம்பிக் கலாம் என கனவுகள் கண்டார்கள். சமாதானக் காற்றை சுவாசிக்கத் தொ டங்கினர். எந்தவிதமான இன்னல்களோ தடைகளோ இன்றி நடமாடத் தொடங் கிய எமது மக்கள் சுமூகமான வாழ்க் கையை ஒரு சில ஆண்டுகள் வாழ்ந் தார்கள். இதை எவரும் மறைக்கவோ மறுக்கவோ முடியாது.

தங்களுடைய கணவர் சிறுபிள் ளைக்கு சோறூட்டும் போது தாய்மார் ~~நிலா நிலா|| ஓடி வா, நில்லாமல் ஓடி வா, மல்லிகைப் பூ கொண்டுவா|| என்று ஏமாற்றி சோறூட்டூவதைப் போல ~~புலிகளின் தாகம் தமிழீழத் தாயகம், புலிகளின் தாகம், புலிகளின் தாகம் தமிழீழத் தாயகம்|| என்று கூறுகின்றனர்.

அவருக்கே புரிந்திருக்கும் அது அடைவது கடினமென. அவர் எடுத்தக் காவடியை அவருடைய வாழ்நாளுக் குள் இறக்கி வைத்தால்தான் எமது சமூகத்திற்கோர் கௌரவமான வாழ்வு கிடைக்கும். அதனை அவர் உணர மறுத்தால் எமது சமுதாயம் ஒருவரை ஒருவர் அழித்து இவ்வளவு நாட்களும் எமது தமிழினம் செய்த தியாகங்கள் அனைத்தும் வீணடிக்கப்படும்.

வயோதிபர்களுக்கு நீங்கள் இல்லம் அமைப்பதை (அன்புச்சோலை) நாம் விமர்சிக்கவில்லை. ஆனால் வாழ வேண்டிய வயதில் தங்களைப் போராட்டத்தில் இணைத்துக் கொண்டு எமது மக்களின விடுதலைக்காகப் போராட வந்த பிஞ்சு உள்ளங்களுக்கு மாவீரர் துயிலும் இல்லத்தில் கல்லறை அமைப்பதுதான் எம்மால் ஜீரணித்துக் கொள்ள முடியவில்லை. போராட்டம் போராட்டம் என்று சிறார்களைக் கொ ன்று புதைக்காதீர்கள். சற்று அவர்க ளையும் அவர்களைப் பெற்ற பெற்றோ ரின் மனநிலைமையையும் எண்ணிப் பாருங்கள். அதுமட்டுமல்ல எத்தனை யோ இளம் குடும்பத்த தலைவர்களை துரோகிகள் என்று கண்மூடித்தனமாக கொலை செய்வதன் மூலம் எத்தனை யோ தமிழ்ப்பெண்கள் விதவைகளாக் கப்பட்டு ஆயிரக்கணக்கான பாலகர்கள் அநாதைகளாக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர். இவற் றைக் கண்டு உங்கள் மனம் வருந்த வில்லையா? நீங்களும் மூன்று பிள் ளைகளை பெற்றெடுத்த தாய்தானே. நடக்கக் கூடாத ஒரு சம்பவம் உங்கள் பிள்ளைகளுக்கோ அல்லது உங்கள் கணவருக்கோ நடந்தால் உங்களின் மனம் எவ்வளவு வேதனைபடும் என்ப தை சற்று சிந்தித்து பாருங்கள். அந்த வேதனையும் வலியும் உங்களுக்குப் புரியும். அதுமட்டுமல்ல லண்டனில் வெளிவந்த பத்திரிகை ஒன்றின் இதழ் ஒன்றையும் இணைத்து அனுப்புகின் றேன். அதில் அண்மையில் கொலை செய்யப்பட்ட பாராளுமன்ற உறுப்பி னர் தி. மகேஸ்வரனின் மகள் கதறிய ழும் புகைப்படம் ஒன்று பிரசுரிக்கப் பட்டுள்ளது. அந்தக் காட்சியைப் பார் த்தாவது இந்தக் கொடிய யுத்தத்திற்கு முற்றுப்புள்ளி வைக்க முன் வரவும்.

இந்த பிஞ்சுகள் செய்த பாவம்தான் என்ன? அவர்களின் வாழ்க்கையும், இனிவரும் ஒவ்வொரு புதுவருடப் பிறப் பும் துக்க தினமாகத்தான் உருவாக் கப்பட்டுள்ளது. ஏன் இந்தக் கொடுமை? இதுமட்டுமல்ல இது போன்ற பலர் இந்தக் கொலைகளை யார் செய்தார் கள் என்பதல்ல பிரச்சினை? இப்படி யான சம்பவங்களுக்கு காரணமாகவு ள்ள கொடிய யுத்தத்தையும் கொ லைக் கலாச்சாரத்தையும் முடிவுக்குக் கொண்டுவர வேண்டிய அவசியத்தை இப் புகைப்படங்கள் வேண்டி நிற்கின் றது. அண்மையில் கருத்து வெளியிட்ட விடுதலைப் புலிகளின் அரசியல் துறைப் பொறுப்பாளர் திரு நடேசன் அவர்கள் குறிப்பிட்டிருந்தார் ~~தமிழ் மக்களை சிங்கள இராணுவத்தின் பிடியிலிருந்து பாதுகாக்கக்கூடிய சக் தியுடன் தாங்கள் இருப்பதாக. எமக்குப் புரியவில்லை, ஏற்கனவே எத்தனை யோ இலட்சக்கணக்கான தமிழ் மக்கள் இராணுவக் கட்டுப்பாட்டுப் பகுதியில் வாழ்ந்து வருகின்றனர். அவர்களுடைய கூற்றின்படி பார்த்தால் வன்னி பெரு நிலப்பரப்பில் வாழ்கின்ற மக்கள் மட் டும்தான் தமழ் மக்களா?

இராணுவக் கட்டுப்பாட்டுப் பிரதே சங்களில் விடுதலைப் புலிகள் தாக்கு தல்களைத் தவிர்த்திருப்பார்களேயா னால் மக்கள் நிம்மதியாக வாழ்வார்கள். இப்படிப்பட்ட முட்டாள்தனமான கருத் துக்களை வெளியிடுவதையும் ஏட்டிக் குப் போட்டியாக தாக்குதல் புரிவதா லும் தமிழ் மக்களின் அடிப்படைப் பிரச்சினைகளுக்கு தீர்வு காண முடி யாது. எனவே தமிழ் மக்களின் மீதும் அவர்களின் நலன்கள் மீதும் உண்மை யான அக்கறை உங்களுக்கோ அல் லது விடுதலைப் புலிகளுக்கோ இருந் தால் ஆக்கபூர்வமான நடவடிக்கை களை மேற்கொண்டு இனப்பிரச்சனை க்கு தீர்வு காண முன் வர வேண்டும் என நாம் வலியுறுத்திக் கேட்டுக் கொள்கிN;றாம்.

Dear Madam,

Although I am displaced from Sri Lanka and presently living in London, I am of the opinion that I could express my heartrending anxiety and mental suffering plight as I am much concerned of our people in Sri Lanka and due to patriotic feeling. Hence I venture to write this letter to you. Moreover, since you have learnt various aspects being a mother of three children and got yourself involved in people’s service, it is another reason which prompted me to write this letter.

In view of the presently prevailing precarious circumstances, we are forced to look back our past experiences, the path we had crossed, etc. If we think over the struggles of the Tamils, we could observe that it had taken place only up to 1987. We consider that the armed struggles which had taken place thereafter are concerned with the high ranks of Liberation Tigers and because of their power hungery motive. Any liberation struggles should always have the main interest of the people. But on contrary, it could be observed that the ongoing armed struggle is only concerning to enhance the Liberation Tigers military wise for warring activities.

When Indo-Sri Lanka pact was signed in 1987, all armed movements including Tigers had expressed their decision to switch on to democratic path. The speech delivered by the leader Prabaharan at Suthumali, for the first time, before the people, is in confirmation of this stand. If that rare opportunity was appropriately harnessed, we could have avoided the losses of several lives. The number of lives of heros lost at that time was 631. During that time, the Indian Government looked at the Sri Lankan Government as rivals and the Tamil as pals. The Indian Government in the best interest of the well being of the Tamils of this country, while providing best security and protection to Tamils, deployed their Peace keeping Force at the boundaries of Tamil areas.

Provided that golden opportunity was best utilised by the Liberation Tigers with balance mind and peacefulness, disregarding their false pride, in the interest of Tamil community, loss of valuable lives could have been avoided. Hundreds of intellectuals, thousands of heros, thousands of those who had difference of opinion, lakhs of general public, millions worth of property, could have been saved from irreparable losses. We do accepts with much heartburning that errors have taken place.

The leaders who were instrumental for Indo-Sri Lankan Pact such as M/s Amithalingam and Yogeswaran were assassinated. Moreover, the Indian Prime Minister Rajive Gandhi was assassinated by suicide bomber in Tamil Nadu of his motherland. In fact this tragic incident was accepted as a sorrowful incident by your husband at a press conference during the year 2001. However, we too take it as a granted as a lamentable tragic incident.

Thereafter, we had the second opportunity for the solution of our ethnic conflict after the General Elections of 1994 on assumption of power by M/s Chandrika Bandaranayake Kumaratunga. That was the ethnic solution package put forward by Prof. Neelan Thiruchelvam with regard to the Constitutional Amendment. A perusal of the solution package, would unequivocally reveal that it consisted of all aspects for the solution of the basic problems of the Tamils in this country. This is not only my contention but also that of political advisor of the Liberation Tigers who had openly divulged this fact at a time. On a belated opportunity, the Political Advisor of the Liberation Tigers openly disclosed this fact at a media conference during 2001. It is crystal clear the Liberation Tigers had lost this golden opportunity also owing to their power hunjer. It is very unfortunate that they assassinated by setting a suicide bomber Prof. Neelan Thiruchelvam, who volunteered to draft this solution package of our ethnic conflict. It is needless to point out at this juncture that this Constitutional Wizard is one who played vital role in drafting the political constitution of various countries including South Africa. Hence we take it for granted that it is also an unfortunate incident and forget same.

Subsequently, as a major progressive move a Ceasefire Agreement was signed with the mediation of Norway. At that moment we all jointly and unitedly expressed our willingness that a negotiated settlement to this problem had to be arrived at with the negotiation with the Liberation Tigers only. In the pretext of political activities, they entered the areas controlled by the Sri Lankan Army stage by stage. Offices were opened for political activities in such areas. Participated in number of rounds of negotiations. The Tamils observing this process dreamt to continue a livelihood of peacefulness. They commenced breathing peacefully. They lived with freedom of movement for few years. This cannot be either disputed or forgotten. The Liberation Tigers who came forward to perform political activities, but what have they done? Murdered the Tamils who had difference of opinion, forcibly demanding ransom from Tamils, who underwent untold suffering consequent to the war, in the pretext of Tax Collection. What have the Liberation Tigers achieved by going up to Geneva for peace talks? It was only the behest of them to entrust the interim self ruling authority which was drafted jointly by great intellectuals like Siva Pasupathy. It could be observed from the draft put forward by them that it did not contain an democratic aspects or reasonable outlook. So, by putting forward such an unrealistic demand, it could be contended that it was ... sinisterly motivated attempt of Liberation Tigers to disturb the peace talks.

When our respected Leader Late Mr. M. Sivasithamparam, leader of the Tamil United Liberation front, delivered his last speech in parliament he said thus “the presently attempted endeavour for peace with the mediation of Norway is the best and last chance and therefore both parties should make the best use of this rare opportunity”. The reason for my highlighting the contents of this speech is because of the fact that consequent to the wrongful decisions of the Liberation Tigers to harness such golden opportunities, the deplorably affected lot are those youths living below poverty line and the innocent general public. Even after the losses of the lives of thousands of heros, hundreds of intellectuals, lakhs of general public and the losses of assets worth billions, it is alarming to observe that your husband is still continuing to recite that the “thirst of Tamil community is the homeland of Tamil Elam”, repeatedly in deceitful manner. This act is similar to the attempt being adopted by mothers calling the moon “come, come moon running, come without halt, come carrying jasmine flowers” thus distracting the attention of babies in feeding them.

He knows very well that “Tamil Eelam” is not feasible. Our community would attain an honourable livelihood only if he brings down the “Kavadi” which he had lifted. If he rejects same, it would result in paving way to doom our community thus utterly wasting the sacrifices made by our community so far. We are not decrying your erection of homes ( affection abode) for elders. But we are unable to assimilate your activities of constructing grave pits in the name of “Thuyulum Illam” i.e. sleeping abode for heros for those tender youths who were forced to involve themselves in armed struggles for the liberation of our people.

Please refrain from burying the tender aged children in the name of war. Just thinks for a minute regarding the mental plight of the parents of those children. Besides, numerous young mothers are turned into widowhood, thousands of children are rendered to orphanage consequent to indiscriminate killings of several young familied persons in the name of traitors. Are you not repenting over these atrocities? Is it not the fact that you are also a mother of who gave birth to three children? Kindly just think of your mental agony if similar adverse consequences befell your beloved children or husband. You could realise such suffering and agony only then. I am also annexing herewith a copy of journal published in London for your perusal. When the photo of the crying son of Late Mr. T. Maheswaran M.P. is appearing, you should come forward to halt this horribles war at least after seeing this photograph.

What is the sin committed by these tender children? Their life and all the future New Year day have been created into much sorrowfulness. Why all these tragedies? It is not a question by whom this murder was committed. The pictures of these nature clearly exhibit the paramount importance of bringing a halt to such terrible murderous culture which are the causes for such tragic incidents. Recently Mr. Nadesam, the Political Wing Leader of the Liberation Tigers made his comments that they possess the capability and capacity of protecting the Tamils from the clutches of Sinhala Army. We are at a loss to understand this statement. Lakhs of Tamils are already residing in areas coming under the control of army. According to the above statement of Mr. Nadesan the doubt arises as to whether the Tamils who are living in Vanni areas only Tamils.

If the Liberation Tigers refrain from their military activities in the areas controlled by the army, then the Tamils could live peacefully. By uttering such foolish statements and engaging themselves with competitive attacks, no solution could be achieved for the basic problems of the Tamils. Hence if you or the Liberation Tigers have the genuine interest on Tamils and their wellbeing, you should come forward to involve yourself in feasible attempts.

புலிகளால் மட்டுமே ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளப்பட்ட தலைவர் நீங்களே.

தமிழர்களால் நிராகரிக்கபட்ட தமிழ் தலைவராக என்னை குறிப்பிட்டு தமிழகத்தில் நான் கூறிய கருத்துக்களுக்கு கனவுலகில் மிதந்து கொண்டு வீராப்பு பேசும் தம்பி ஜெயானந்தமூர்த்திக்கு வரலாற்றை ஞாபகப்படுத்த விரும்புகின்றேன்.

ஜனநாயக முறையில் நடைபெற்ற கடைசித் தேர்தலில் 36,000 வாக்குகளைப் பெற்று ஒன்பது பேரில் முதன்மை உறுப்பினராக நான் தெரிவு செய்யப்பட்டேன். தம்பி ஜெயானந்தமூர்த்தியைப் போல் சத்தியமூர்த்தி, கிங்ஸ்லி இராஜநாயகம் போன்றோரை பல்லக்கில் வைத்து பரலோகம் அனுப்பிவிட்டு குறுக்குப் பாதையால் பாராளுமன்றம் சென்றவன் நான் அல்ல. காலத்துக்குக் காலம் மக்களின் பின்னால் மறைந்திருந்து வீராப்பு பேசி இன்று பல்லாயிரக்கணக்கான மக்களை நடுத்தெருவில் நிறுத்தி விட்டு இந்தியாவின் பிரதிநிதியைப் போல் பேசுவது விந்தையிலும் விந்தை.

ஏந்த அரசுக்கும் நான் முண்டு கொடுத்தவன் அல்ல. கைக்கூலியாக செயற்படுவது தம்பி ஜெயானந்தமூர்த்தியே அன்றி நான் அல்ல. 2004ம் ஆண்டு இடம்பெற்ற பாராளுமன்ற தேர்தலில் மோசடி மூலமாகவும் புலிகளின் அடாவடித்தனத்தாலும் கூட்டமைப்பு பாராளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர்கள் 22 பேரும் வென்றனர். ஐரோப்பிய ஒன்றியம், பொதுநலவாய நாடுகளின் பிரதிநிதிகள்,உள்ளுர், சி.எம்.வி., பெப்ரல் போன்ற அமைப்புக்கள் இந்த தேர்தல் நடவடிக்கையை கண்டித்ததோடு வடக்கு கிழக்கு மாகாணத்தில் நடைபெற்ற தேர்தலை ரத்து செய்ய வேண்டும் என தேர்தல் ஆணையாளருக்கு சிபாரிசு செய்தமையை மறந்து என்மீது களங்கம் கற்பிப்பது வேடிக்கையானது. அன்றைய ஐ.நா செயலாளர் திரு. கொபி அனான் உட்பட பல்வேறு நாட்டுத் தலைவர்களும் வடக்கு கிழக்கில் நடைபெற்ற தேர்தலை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளவில்லை என்பது உலகறிந்த உண்மையாகும். இந்தியப் பிரதமர் கௌரவ மன்மோகன் சிங் அவர்கள் பெப்ரவரி மாதம் இலங்கைக்கு வருவதாக யாருக்கும் எப்போதும் கூறவில்லை. ஆகவே தம்பி ஜெயானந்தமூர்த்தியின் கற்பனைகளில் எம்மால்தான் அவர் வரவில்லை என்பதும் ஒன்றாகும்.

தான் பிரதிநிதித்துவப்படுத்துவதாகக் கூறிக்கொள்ளும் மக்களை புறக்கணித்துவிட்டு பெரும்பான்மை மக்கள் மத்தியில் பாதுகாப்பாக வாழ்ந்து கொண்டு பேரினவாதத்தைப் பற்றி பேசுவதும் தம்மை மறந்து கைக்கூலிகளென பேசுவதையும் தம்பி ஜெயானந்தமூர்த்தி அவர்கள் தவிர்த்துக் கொள்வது நன்று. அரசியல் வாழ்வில் 50 ஆண்டுகள் சுய சிந்தனையுடன் செயற்பட்டு வந்தேனே அன்றி நான் யாருக்கும் எடுபிடியாகவோ, கைக்கூலியாகவோ செயற்பட்டது கிடையாது. மறைந்த அன்ரன் பாலசிங்கம் அவர்களுக்கு நான் கொடுத்த பதில் ஞாபகம் இருக்குமென நினைக்கின்றேன். கப்பம், மிரட்டல் ஆட்கடத்தல், தடுத்து வைத்தல், சித்திரவதை செய்தல், கொலைகள் ஆகியவை பற்றி பேசும் தம்பி ஜெயானந்தமூர்த்தி தனது எஜமானர்களின் பிரதேசத்தில் இவற்றைவிட வேறு என்ன நடக்கின்றது என்பதை மட்டும் அவரால் சொல்ல முடியுமா?. ஆங்காங்கே கட்டுப்பாடற்ற பிரதேசத்தில் நடைபெறும் இச் சம்பவங்களை நாம் வன்மையாக கண்டிக்கின்றோம். ஆனால் அவற்றில் சிலவற்றுக்கு யார் பொறுப்பு என்பதை நான் அறிவேன். தினம் தினம் பலாத்காரமாக பிடிக்கப்பட்டு மூளைச்சலவை செய்யப்பட்டு போர்முனைக்கு அனுப்பப்படும் அப்பாவி ஏழைப் பெற்றோரின் பிள்ளைகளை போர்முனையில் பலி கொடுப்பதை அவரால் தடுக்க முடியவில்லை. வீராப்பு பேசி காலத்தை வீனடிக்காது தனது பிள்ளையையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு போர்முனைக்கு செல்வதே உத்தமர்கள் செயலாகும்.

இந்தியாவும், குறிப்பாக தமிழகமும் இலங்கைத் தமிழர்கள் மீது அக்கறையோடு செயற்பட்டு தீர்விற்கு ஒத்துழைக்குமே அன்றி அவர் கூறும் பிரமுகர்கள் அல்ல என்பதை தெளிவுபடுத்த விரும்புகின்றேன்.

PRESS RELEASE

The Tamil United Liberation Front very strongly condemns the brutal assassination of Madam Banazir Bhutto. The hopes of the people of Pakistan to return to democracy have been shattered. There are a few blood thirsty men in every country who want to keep their people under their subjugation without any justification. More than these ruthless terrorist those who condon their activities and glorify them, should themselves change their attitude towards terrorism without waiting for anyone in their families to suffer the same fate as that of Benazir’s and such others.

The time has come for everyone in every country to condemn terrorism and give all help to eradicate it. No one has any right to take another person’s life. The media all over the world should play the key role in the eradication of terrorism with a determination.

The TULF condoles with the Members of Madam Banazir’s family and with people of Pakistan and all others who have suffered in the hands of the terrorist.

05-12-2007 அன்று அனுராதபுரம் - பதவியா வீதியில் அபிமன்னபுர என்ற கிராமத்தில் பயணிகள் பஸ் வண்டி மீது புலிகள் நடத்திய கிளேமோர் தாக்குதலில் 15 பொதுமக்கள் ஸ்தலத்திலேயே கொல்லப்பட்டதோடு 28 பேர்வரை காயமடைந்துள்ளனர். இவர்களில் பலர் ஆபத்தான நிலையில் இருப்பதாகவும் தெரிவிக்கப்படுகிறது. காயமடைந்தவர்கள் கெப்பிட்டிகொலாவ, அனுராதபுரம் வைத்தியசாலைகளில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.

புலிகளால் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்ட மிகப் பிரபலமான பயணிகள் பேரூந்து படுகொலை கடந்த ஒன்றரை ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்னர்தான் இப்பகுதியில் நடைபெற்றது. இந்த நாட்டில் பொருளாதார சமூக ரீதியில் அடிமட்டத்தில் வாழும் இந்த கிராமங்களைச் சேர்ந்த மக்கள் பீதியுடனேயே வாழ்கிறார்கள்.

சாதாரண மக்கள் மீதான தாக்குதல்கள் மூலம் இலங்கையில் பாரிய இனக்கலவரமொன்றை ஏற்படுத்துவதற்கு இலங்கை முழுவதும் அன்றாட வாழ்க்கையை ஸ்தம்பிதமடையச் செய்வதற்கும் நிரந்தர அராஜக நிலையொன்றை ஏற்படுத்துவதற்கும் புலிகள் முயற்சிக்கிறார்கள்.

இந்த வன்முறை கலாச்சாரம் முடிவுக்குக் கொண்டுவரப்பட வேண்டும். இத்தகைய வன்முறைமயப்பட்ட தலைமைத்துவத்தை தமிழ் மக்கள் விரும்பமாட்டார்கள். சர்வதேச சமூகமும் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளாது.

நுகேகொட, அபிமன்னபுர தாக்குதல்கள் சதிகார நோக்கங்களுடனேயே நிகழ்த்தப்படுகின்றன.

இத்தகைய தாக்குதல்கள் இலங்கையின் சகல சமூகங்களினதும் வாழ்வு நரகமாகுவதற்கே வழிவகுக்கும்.

இந்த நாட்டில் இனப்பிரச்சனைக்கு அமைதி தீர்வையும், இன சமூகங்களிடையே நல்லுறவையும், சமாதானத்தையும் நேசிக்கும் மனிதர்கள் இத்தகைய தாக்குதல்களை உறுதியுடன் கண்டிப்பதற்கு முன்வர வேண்டும்.

CONDEMNING THE BRUTAL KILLINGS

Statement jointly released by the leaders of the TULF, PLOTE and the EPRLF-Pathmanabha condemning the brutal killings of the LTTE -06-12-2007

We very strongly condemn the brutal act of the LTTE, for causing the death of 15 innocent civilians and seriously injuring 28 others by a claymore mine attack at Abimanapura targeting a passenger bus plying from Anuradhapura to Padavia on 05-12-2007. It is under -stood that a number of the injured admitted to the Anuradhapura hospital are in a serious condition. The highest number of casualties in a claymore mine attack targeting a bus by the LTTE took place, in the same area about 1 ½ years back. The people of this area are the weakest economically and they live in constant fear and tension

We are aware that the LTTE have a hidden motive for the claymore attack operations in Nugegoda and Abimanapuara. This type of activities of the LTTE make hell for all the citizen of Sri Lanka. There should be a limit for LTTE madness. I wish to warn the LTTE that the International community will not tolerate this type of activities for ever and also that the Tamils do not want a terrorist leadership.

The people of this country want a peaceful solution and cordial relationship among all. Every one wanting peace should come forward and condemn this type of brutality of the LTTE

ARRESTS AND DETENTIONS

We wish to lodge our strong protest against the manner in which thousands of Tamil youths are arrested at cordon and search operations and detained under the detention order from the Ministry of Defence. It will not serve the purpose for which it is intended and will prove counter productive. It will only strengthen the claims of the LTTE and the pro-LTTE elements all over the world that the Government is harassing the innocent Tamil people. This incident will also seriously prejudice the thinking of the International Community relating to the attitude of the Government towards the Ethnic Problem. The International Community may not understand that this action taken by the Government is to prevent the recurrence of incidents similar to the Nugegoda Bombing in which several people died and got injured. The LTTE cadre are armed with numerous identities and it is hardly possible to detect them. Ultimately it is the innocent ones who suffer as a penalty for running away from the LTTE’s clutches into the arms of the Government, seeking protection.

Your Excellency, you are aware that more than half the Tamil populations from the North now live with the Sinhalese, very much loved and respected by the local Sinhalese and Muslims. Just imagine what the plight of the detained ones will be when they return home on their release? Will the Sinhalese neighbors receive them at innocent ones or will they try to keep them as a distance? The net result will be the cordiality among the different races will gradually diminish giving rise to communal politic. This is what the LTTE exactly wants and the Government unconsciously fell into their trap.

We very well understand the concerns of the Government. A fanatic, may be even a lunatic, on the instructions or for valuable considerations from another fanatical lunatic, leaves a parcel at the counter of a Textile Shop and vanishes from the scene. Within minutes the parcel explodes leaving 17 dead on the spot and injuring about fifty others three of whom also succumbed to the injuries.

We agree that the Government has a responsibility to safe-guard all the people. The action taken will expose the people of this country to greater risk to their lives. When protection is not forthcoming from the Government where can these Tamil youths go? They cannot live peacefully in their traditional homes in the North, neither live peacefully in the South with the others. The only place left for them is the Indian Ocean.

We do not say that the Government should close its eyes and keep quiet. Do the search operations, arrest any one on suspicion but don’t detain any innocent person un-necessarily even for a day.

Please order the release of all those who have proper identities immediately. Those in doubt could be detained till their identities are proved. Please have a team of retired Judge, to go into the documents of identity available with those who are detained and if their identities are in doubt. After these doubtful cases are cleared take the real culprits to courts. That is what the Government should do without getting blamed

It is very unfortunate that at a time when the Government should win over the goodwill of the minorities, the events that take place help only to earn the displeasure of the minorities. We have received hundreds of phone calls from our supporters, from retired public servants and even from relations and unknown person protesting against these detentions and the manner the detained people are treated. Please act promptly and order the release of all those who have document of identity even if the person concerned hails from the North.

We feel that one of the reasons for Tamil People overstaying in Colombo is due to the curtailment of the Train Services to Vavuniya. Since Vavuniya is a cleared area there is no justification to terminate the services at Anuradhapura. Kindly extend the services as usual to Vavuniya.

கைதுகளும் தடுத்து வைத்தலும்

சுற்றி வளைப்புத் தேடுதலில் ஆயிரக்கணக்கான தமிழ் இளைஞர்களையும், யுவதிகளையும் கைது செய்து பாதுகாப்பு அமைச்சின் தடுப்பு உத்தரவுடன் தடுத்து வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளமையை வன்மையாக கண்டிக்கிகிறோம்.

என்ன நோக்கத்தோடு இந்த நடவடிக்கை மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டதோ அதற்கு மாறான விளைவுகளையே இந்த நடவடிக்கை கொண்டு வரும் என்பது உறுதி.

உலகளாவிய அளவில் விடுதலைப் புலிகளும் அவர்களுக்கு சார்பானவர்களும், அரசு தமிழ் மக்களை துன்புறுத்துகின்றது என்று கூறும் குற்றச்சாட்டு நிச்சயமாக வலுப்பெறும். இனப்பிரச்சனை சார்பாக அரசு கொண்டுள்ள நிலைப்பாடானது சர்வதேச சமூகத்தினர் மத்தியில் தவறான கருத்தையே ஏற்படுத்தும். நுகேகொட சம்பவத்தில் பலர் கொல்லப்பட்டு, காயப்பட்டதும் போல் ஒரு சம்பவம் இடம்பெறுவதை தவிர்க்கவே அரசு இந்த நடவடிக்கையில் இறங்கியுள்ளதென சர்வதேச சமூகம் விளங்கிக் கொள்ளாது. பல்வேறு விதமான அடையாள அட்டைகளை விடுதலைப் புலிகள் வைத்திருப்பதால் அவர்களை இலகுவாக அடையாளம் கண்டுகொள்ள முடியாது. இறுதியில் விடுதலைப் புலிகளின் கெடுபிடிகளிலிருந்து தப்பி அரசின் பாதுகாப்புத் தேடி அடைக்கலம் கோரும் அப்பாவி மக்களே கஸ்டப்படுகிறார்கள்.

வடபகுதி தமிழர்களில் அரைவாசிக்கு மேற்பட்டோர் தென்னிலங்கையில் சிங்கள, முஸ்லீம் மக்கள் மத்தியில் பெரும் மதிப்புடனும், நேசத்துடனும் வாழ்கின்றனர். பிடிபட்டவர்கள் விடுவிக்கப்பட்டு வீடு திரும்பும் போது அவர்களின் நிலைமையை எண்ணிப் பாருங்கள். அத்தகையவர்களின் அயலவர்களாகிய சிங்கள மக்கள் அவர்களை அப்பாவிகளென ஏற்றுக்கொள்வார்களா அல்லது தூர வைத்துக்கொள்வார்களா? மொத்தத்தில் சிங்கள, தமிழ் மக்கள் மத்தியில் நிலவிவந்த அந்நியோன்யம் குறைந்து இறுதியில் இன வேற்றுமை அரசியலுக்கே வழி கோலும்.

அரசினுடைய சங்கடமான நிலைமை எங்களுக்கு புரிகிறது. ஓர் வெறியன், அவன் ஓர் பைத்தியக்காரனாகவும் இருக்கலாம், ஒரு வெறிபிடித்த பைத்தியகாரனால் பணிக்கப்பட்டு அல்லது பெறுமதியான உபகாரத்தால் கவரப்பட்டு ஒரு துணிக்கடைத் தொகுதியில் ஒரு பார்சலைக் கொடுத்துவிட்டு அந்த இடத்தைவிட்டு உடன் மறைந்து விடுகிறான். அப்பார்சல் நொடிப்பொழுதில் வெடித்து சிதறி 17 உயிர்களை அதேயிடத்தில் பலிகொண்டதோடு படுகாயமடைந்த ஐம்பதுக்கு மேற்பட்டவர்களில் மேலும் மூவரை பலிகொண்டுள்ளது.

சகல மக்களையும் காப்பாற்ற வேண்டிய பொறுப்பு அரசுக்கு உண்டு. அரசு எடுத்திருக்கும் நடவடிக்கை பொது மக்களின் உயிருக்கு மேலும் கூடுதலான ஆபத்தை விளைவிக்கும.; உரிய பாதுகாப்பு அரசிடமிருந்து கிடைக்க தவறும் பட்சத்தில் இந்த அப்பாவி தமிழ் இளைஞர்களும், யுவதிகளும் எங்கே போவார்கள். தாம் பிறந்த வட மண்ணிலும் நிம்மதியாக வாழ முடியவில்லை. தெற்கே ஏனையோருடனும் நிம்மதியாக வாழ முடியவில்லையெனில் அவர்களுக்குள்ள ஒரே இடம் இந்து சமுத்திரம் மட்டும்தான்.

அரசு கண் மூடிக் கொண்டு எதையும் பொருட்படுத்தக் கூடாது என நாம் கூற வரவில்லை. நன்றாக தேடலாம், சந்தேக நபரை பிடித்து தடுத்து வைக்கலாம். ஆனால் அப்பாவிகளாக யாராக இருந்தாலும் தேவையில்லாமல் ஒருநாள் கூட தடுத்து வைக்கப்படக் கூடாது.

அடையாள சான்றுகள் வைத்திருக்கும் எல்லோரையும் தயவு செய்து உடனடியாக விடுதலை செய்யுமாறு உரியவர்களுக்கு பணிப்புரை விடுக்கவும். கைது செய்யப்பட்டுள்ள ஏனையோர் தத்தம் அடையாளங்களை உறுதி செய்யப்படும் வரை தடுத்து வைக்கப்படலாம். இளைப்பாறிய நீதிபதிகள் குழுவொன்று, எவர் மீதும் சந்தேகம் இருக்குமாயின் அவரவர் முன்வைக்கும் ஆவணங்களை பரிசீலிக்கலாம். சந்தேகத்திற்குரியவர்களின் ஆவணங்களை பரிசீலித்ததன் பின்பு உண்மையான குற்றவாளிகளை நீதிமன்றத்தின் முன் நிறுத்தி விசாரிக்கலாம். வீண் பழியிலிருந்து தப்புவதற்கு அரசு இதைத்தான் செய்ய வேண்டும்.

சிறுபான்மை மக்களின் நன்மதிப்பை அரசு சம்பாதிக்க வேண்டிய இக்கால கட்டத்தில் நடைபெறும் சம்பவங்கள் சிறுபான்மை மக்களின் மன வேதனையை தூண்டுவதாக அமைவது தூரதிஷ்டமே. எமக்கு நூற்றுக்கணக்கான தொலைபேசி அழைப்புக்கள் இச் சம்பவத்தையும், மக்கள் நடத்தப்படுகின்ற முறையையும் கண்டித்தும், எமது ஆதரவாளர்கள், இளைப்பாறிய அரச ஊழியர்கள், நண்பர்கள், முன்பின் தெரியாதோர் ஆகியோரிடமிருந்து கூட வருகின்றன. தயவு செய்து உடன் நடவடிக்கை எடுத்து தத்தம் அடையாளங்களை நிரூபிக்கக் கூடியவர்களை அவர்கள் வட பகுதியைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களாக இருந்தாலும் உடன் விடுவிக்க உத்தரவு விடவும்.

கொழும்பில் மக்கள் கூடுதலாக தங்கியிருப்பதற்கு உரிய காரணங்களில் ஒன்று வவுனியா வரை சென்று வரும் புகையிரதப் போக்குவரத்து சேவை அனுராதபுரத்துடன் நிறுத்துவதாகும். வவுனியா ஓர் விடுவிக்கப்பட்ட பிரதேசமாகையால் புகையிரத சேவையை வவுனியா வரை நீடிக்க நடவடிக்கை மேற்கொள்ள வேண்டும்.
